Picked up a new '18 1LE. Anything to look out for?
Good morning everyone! Bought a new 2018 1SS 1LE this weekend. Is there anything I should expect or keep an eye on in the first few thousand miles. I've ready to change the oil and differential fluid fairly early.
Thanks! |

I wouldn't touch the diff unless you need to. Not everyone has issues with it. Engine oil? Sure, do an early change.

These things are rock solid handling. I feel so locked in in mine. Hard to take it easy around town. The 1LE package is just amazing imo. Have Fun and Congrats!

Not necessarily things to watch out for, but there is a break-in procedure to follow that's outlined between the owner's manual and the high performance supplement. Since I didn't see a concise forum post that has all of the steps listed in order in one spot, I'll try to spell it all out. For the first 1500 miles for all 2016+ Camaros:
For the first 200 miles:
Also, if you plan to track the car after it's broken in, do this stuff after you're done with the standard break in (specifically for SS or SS 1LE):
Finally, here's the detailed brake burnishing procedure if you're planning to track the car:

I also just picked up an '18 1SS 1LE, at about 700 miles now. Just did the first oil change this weekend at 672 miles. I *mostly* followed the break in up until the oil change. Probably got above 4k rpm a few times, but never redlined it. I think not lugging it is more important. Now that I have the first oil change in I'll be a bit more liberal with the revs, but still not gonna beat on it too bad.
At 1500 miles I'll do another engine oil change, change the diff oil, and drive like normal. And don't worry if you hear some crazy crunching sounds coming from the back of the car when you turn into a steep driveway. It probably lifted the inside rear wheel and the E-Diff makes some noise trying to compensate. |
