I'm sorry your cars sucked, but it might not be the maker of the car it might be the owner and how he takes care of his car. think on that. |

The GTO died because it was decided before they started that it would only run from 2004-2006. The Camaro is a long term project and the V6 is likely to be its strongest point in the long run.

Regarding the Firebird, for all you know, the original owner may have thrashed it all over the road. If you bought it brand new and it had that many problems before 50k miles, then you'd have something to complain about. People need to realize that GM's not the same company that it was in the 80s and 90s. We build the best cars and trucks on the market. We've already won tons of awards and accolades from various organizations and publications since 2007. Some of the cars in GM's lineup are so popular that GM can't keep up with production. I think it's about time people sit up and take notice of the new GM. It's no longer the same company that churned out rebadge after rebadge. The days of bad quality are over. Our quality standards have improved greatly over the past few years, with cars like the Malibu being ranked first in initial quality by JD Power and Associates.

Ah hell,
This one got away before I could get here. Well, it doesn't make much sense, to try and contain it now. So everyone please let this die. We're now watching this thread closely, I will say that for the most part everyone kept this clean. FreakingLongHair. All I'd ask is that you change your tone. Not being a fan of GM or the Camaro is not grounds for being banned from this site. However, name calling is. Personally, I don't want you to go.... Kevin2323 needs all the friends he can get. So, start over, please and all will be well.

Dodge is superior on longevity? I'm definitely pulling for the domestic brands, believe me, but Chrysler is just not getting it right. They're the only one of the big three to not improve quality or reliability. Yes that was basically the Germans who did that to them and Cerberus has not proved its abilities yet (though does anyone really expect a private equity flip machine to actually care?) but your Charger was built on the Mercedes E Class platform during the bad German days so... Don't believe me? http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/V...andCaravanSXT/ Edit: Fenwick: great list, but since you included some future cars in there you gotta throw in the Invicta. Now that is one heckuva car.

Chrysler is definitely not dominant in the area of longevity. Look at the old cars on the street. You'll see a lot of GM and Ford classics. I tend toward the GM cars, like the Beretta, Cutlass, STS, Cavalier, Z71s, Camaros, Corvettes, and many others; however, you can bank on seeing a load of Fords, including the Escort, Mustang, and Taurus. Among the classics, I've seen my share of Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros, but I have yet to see a classic Challenger, Viper, or Charger in the flesh outside of a show. I've even seen an old Buick Apollo made to seriously drag race down the street from where I work.
The evidence about longevity is all on the streets. I think Chrysler makes beautiful machines with a lot of phenomenal features, including Boston Acoustics sound systems, sporty trims for a lot of models, and, of course, the legendary Hemi V8. At the same time as I appreciate a lot of Chrysler products, I can't honestly say that I'd want an old one based on a combination of consumer reviews, personal preference, and what is still driving around after a long time. There's just not enough evidence to support that a well-treated Chrysler car will last as long as a GM or Ford.
