If GM builds a gen 6 ZL1, I wouldn't be surprised to see it wipe the floor with the Hellcat.

lol... are you guys the only ones that don't have quality problems, I've had 5 5th gens and all of them were a disaster in some way starting with an 2010 2SS with a L99 that would spray up so much oil into the intake it clogged the brake vacuum line.

I have looked very hard at the SRT's in the past. The high power performance aftermarket is pretty thin. If you want to go really fast you have to have custom fabrication and that gets real expensive. There is no Lingenfelter making crazy performance parts readily available for Dodge. I'm fairly certain that if you had a new hellcat and $35K for mods, then raced me in the quarter mile, 1 mile and road course, I could win 2 out of 3. I'm pretty sure I could build my car again from scratch for $35k.

I may have used the wrong term, 2door. In saying "solid", I meant "live", as in not an IRS rear end.

Do all of those cars that you mention have IRS? I'm not that well versed regarding Chrysler produucts, sorry.
Thanks for clarifying.

I like the idea of the Hellcat, but without the Challenger going on a serious diet I don't see it as much of a threat to anyone else. You can currently get a GT500 with 662-hp that weighs less than the Hellcat, and is more than likely cheaper as well.

The Challenger SRT8 handles WAY better than what most people think. Part of buying a SRT you get a track day of your choice & the cars are supplied. I went to Daytona & we pushed those SRTs hard all day long without any issues.

The 2015 Hellcat should be an impressive beast.

Im guessing 275 tires. Looking at the website I might be right at 275/40

What will the Challenger be aiming for ?

Funny you ask, considering the present 470-hp SRT can run 12:20s and 185-mph stock, with an additional 170+hp, improved aero, and fantastic 8-speed auto. My guess is their aim is 0-60, 1/8, 1/4, stop light to stop light, roll races, and top end. Another words anything on the street (SRT- Street Racing Technology). What it won't do is rule on a twisty track.

Kind of a ridiculous comparison. Is that the amount of money you spent in modding your car, what are your numbers? It should be running low 9s, and 200+mph for that amount of coin? You also have to remember the with the Hellcat you are starting off with a much more efficient blower and fully forged internals.

Hellcat engine block is aluminum unlike the 6.4 hemi's so there is some weight savings there to help offset some of the supercharger weight but still not gonna be a light weight. Funny ZL1 owners making fat jokes about other vehicles, I guess they will be bragging about handling even harder once the Hellcat is showing them taillights at every stoplight and drag strip. 8 speed auto hellcat is gonna run with a GT500 in a straight line! I'm just glad we have manufacturers making awesome cars and all I hear is bitching about weight and build quality to make their own brand seem superior. Lets just admit these are great times for car enthusiasts!

Exactly. A loaded up SRT 392 is around $50-51k. Hell, this thing may be north of $65k.
