Do I need a new tune??
I will soon be doing my 2nd cam swap on my 1LE. The current cam is a 227/235 with 115 L/s. I will be installing a custom cam that was designed for FI. The specs. are 226/246 with 117 L/S. I also installed 3 inch exhaust a few months after I had it tuned. Will it need to be tuned right away?? I am thinking yes, but would like to confirm with some people in the know. Thanks in advance.

That's a subjective question
Can you start it up on the new cam and drive it around EASY until time for re-tuning? YES! Avoid heavy or WOT until it goes back on a dyno and with a wideband but you should be fine. Your fueling (if not a hack tune the first time around) should stay relative close at heavy throttle but timing needs will change a bit. It might even BE ok at WOT; but no need to take that risk until you get the tuning updated. |
