Reproduction vs OEM Chromed

I like the look of the OEM 20" wheels in chrome. I've been pricing the options of buying reproduction wheels vs sending my OEM wheels out to get them chromed. As far as pricing goes it would be a little cheaper for me to buy repro wheels plus I get to keep my stock polished wheels. If I go with getting my OEM wheels chromed it will cost more plus I have to give them my polished wheels. The only other reason to go with getting my OEM's chromed would be quality. Not sure about the quality of the reproduction wheels. Anyone who has done either option your thoughts would be appreciate.

Last year at the BBOMG I saw a car with reproduction chrome rims but the rims were not exactly the same as my stockers. I'm considering getting chrome rims too but if I do I'll do a swap with Tom Henry's shop in PA.

Here's the e-mail I got from him.

995 with cores, 1295 without, shipping is 160. Mount and balance around
120.

I have GM factory chrome wheels. I kept my polished wheels for my toyo all season tires.
Love the look and quality of these. www.calchrome.com

I too have OEM wheels that have been chromed.....and believe it or not, because I didn't have to have them shipped back and forth.....I saved $120 on the set over repro's! and the quality is GREAT!

I have a set of Factory Reproductions chrome wheels and they look just the same as the factory wheels, chrome still looks great and they were my regular wheels for over a year. The good part of buying the Repro's is you keep your stock wheels, can sell them or keep them, no exhange and they cost less than doing a chrome exchange... Now I have a few different sets but here is a pic with them on my Camaro...

I have the Camaro chrome replica wheels from Discount Tire. They seem to have great quality so far and include a lifetime warranty on structural damage. I kept my stock wheels for my winter set of tires which worked out great for me living in Minnesota.

I thinking of going with getting another set of OEM's chrome and keep my polished wheels as well. Maybe I can use the polished for racing tires!

The oem wheels are made in china just like the repros. The biggest difference is the repros usually are not as smooth on the inner 3/4 of the rim. Kinda left a but unfinished but still look fine in the faces.

I got the OEMs in chrome from the Wheel Specialist in Tempe, AZ. I had my midnight silvers in storage and wanted something other than the Lorenzos I had on. They sent me shipping labels and the transaction was smooth and quick. The quality is great and the inner barrels are chromed too but not polished. They look damn good and I get a lot of compliments on them,

Thanks! They'll hold me over until I spend the $5K on the wheels I really want.
