I was all set to get a C7 z51 at the end of the year, but the zl1 is just crazy stupid performance for the money. I don't know what to do now, nightfall grey metallic is looking pretty damn sweet.

I think you hit it on the nail, "the zl1 is just crazy stupid performance for the money".

Grand Sport has the looks/presence and handling

ZL1 has the power and comfort

Don't forget, either.....most all Grand Sports and Z06s that have been magazine-tested, were sporting the $7000 Z07 package that included CC brakes, heavy aero, and sticky-sticky tires. Those items make a massive difference.

I would be curious to see a base model Grand Sport reviewed opposite a ZL1. I'm certain it would still have an edge...but I bet the decision wouldn't be so obvious...

Yes, it sure is a tough decision...but a fun one.

The Z06 is NOT a handful to drive on the street. It's a LOT of car, and you can't be an idiot driving it, but with the grannies left on and if you keep your hands on the steering wheel, it doesn't just make turns into walls!

There will be lots of - "you can only compare the Z06 against the ZL1", because they are both 650hp cars. Really not true. Just for 0-60 times, great resource:
http://www.zeroto60times.com/vehicle...-60-mph-times/

2017 ZL1: 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.4 seconds
2017 Grand Sport: 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds
2015 Z06/Z07: 0-60 in 3.0 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.0 seconds
2016 Z51: 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds
2013 ZL1 (vert) 0-60 in 4.0 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 12.3 seconds
THANKS for the link

The Grand Sport with the Z07 package as tested by Car and Driver put down an impressive performance.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...al-test-review

0-60: 3.8 seconds
0-100: 8.7 seconds
0-120: 12.9 seconds
0-150: 24.1 seconds
70-0: 129 feet
skidpad: 1.18Gs

The Grand Sport as I would option it would only have the Z07 package, comp. seats, and maybe a wheel options comes up to $77,500 bucks.

Also Katech advertises a package for $9,000 gets you 600BHP and 523ft-lbs of torque from the LT1 engine if you really wanted more power.

pdiddy972 I feel exactly the same way.

I would too Mr.Wyndham...$7,000 for the ZO7 package is a little expensive for me.

Grand Sport is not the best Vette. It's a poser wanting to be a Z06... It's a "wanna be" car...

Get the ZL1! Best bang for your buck!!!

Lmfao. Two of my buddies I run with in the Corvette Club drive 17 Grand Sports. While they do get compliments many guys call them posers and ask why they didn't get the "real deal". "Can't afford the real Z06?" They are made fun of at almost every meet.

Don't shoot the messenger. I'll be dropping the Vette off as soon as the ZL1 shows up!

Maybe they wanted a car that could make it into the 2nd lap without overheating

It was "your" comment in your original post. I personally am not a fan of having a SC in a track car, for numerous reasons. Oh yeah and another $14,000 for the Z06 would have been too much, Lol! If it were a Porsche I'd want the GT3 over the Turbo. However the GS/Z07 has bested the GT3 a number of times.

FYI, I will say I am impressed with the ZL1. I've always liked Camaros.
