2018 ZL1 Random Codes after battery died.

Hello everyone,

Having an issue here of course. I had a dash cam plugged into my engine bay fuse box for 24/7 coverage. Needless to say I left my car (2018 ZL1) with my parents while away for work over the next few months.

The battery died and gave codes P2534, P2535, P0700, P10E4, P129D… afterwards the dash cam was disconnected and the battery was placed on a tender. After being fully charged the codes were cleared and the car started up with no issues. Didn’t drive strange or anything. Engine light came on after 5-10 minutes of driving. Car was parked and gave codes P2534 and P0700.

My question in for those codes is there a specific fuse I should be looking for that may have burnt out? Or should I be looking for something else.

Also the alarm continues to go off once the door is opened after unlocking. Looking for a fix for that as well. Thanks In advanced!

Hi PTII, to the forums. You have a beautiful ZL1

These are electrical codes. As a first step, I'd test the battery with something like this unit, or simply go to a parts store such as Autozone and request a battery test. Even though it appears to be charged, the battery may be weak and not able to hold the charge, especially if it's the original from 2018. If this is the case, buy a new battery, reset the codes and see if that solves the problem.

A related angle is the dash cam, is it continuously drawing power, or does it have a timeout for its parking mode that it was (presumably) in while the car was sitting at your parents' house? Just curious, this isn't a likely cause of the codes, but a continuous draw sure doesn't help the battery.

By the way, I have recently replaced the battery in my 2018 and decided not to mess around with expensive lightweight stuff but get an AC Delco replacement that is slightly better than stock.

Thank you!

Do you know which fuses should be checked for these exact codes?

Yes it was left in parking mode. In this made any motion or g force exerted on the car triggers the camera.

looking into getting a new battery now.

Well I'm no mechanic, so my go-to in these cases is www.troublecodes.net, but from what I see there for P2534 and P0700, it could simply be the battery. If the car wasn't even started, I don't see how any of the ignition related fuses would've blown.

That said, you will also want to check for water intrusion and rodent damage (chewed up wires, nest underhood or around the cabin air filter etc.), especially if the car was stored outdoors, but they might have happened even if the car sat in a garage. Mice can be very mischievous.

Something similar happened to me, battery was low, still started the car. But multiple codes over a bunch of different controllers were set and screwed everything up.

Replace the battery, clear the codes and don't waste your time troubleshooting that.

Just curious my battery seems weak and I have been getting the P0735 and P0729 codes, Is it super common on these to cars to throw random codes with a weak battery?

These damn cars are hard to diagnose, my GMC pick up truck battery literally lasted 10 years, so for me personally it’s hard to gauge anything now with high capacity electronic cars
