So, wonder if the dealership is going to disclose the damage and the reason for the mileage on the ZL1?

Years ago, and I mean like 25+ yrs ago, Chrysler got in hot water for selling cars branded "new" when in fact they were damaged somewhere along the line from the factory to being driven up the ramps to the car carriers or being test driven or just plain "hot-rodded" out in the parking lot before delivery. Not that this is the same scenario but a new ZL1 with 140 miles, you know those were hard miles driven. I think someone has on their tagline "drives: like it is stolen"........

The article makes it pretty clear the 114 miles was the distance from Charleston to Lexington. Mapquest says that distance is 110.5 miles...

This wouldn't have to be an inside job at all; just good planning.

Very likely they're already in a shipping container. I met some folks visiting from Denmark a few weeks ago who told me my car would cost ~$150K in Denmark! Most of that is taxes and tariffs.

Selling stolen U.S. cars overseas is big money, and the rings have gotten very sophisticated. The paperwork and VIN tags are almost impossible to tell from originals in many cases. The only way to really tell if the car has been stolen is through the hidden VIN's stamped on the vehicle.

Probably because it would be fairly easy to identify, given there aren't that many made yet..

Does the dealership not have any surveillance? I thought most businesses have some type of CCTV these days.

Either way, I agree with everyone...I thought it sounded just like Gone in 60 seconds.

I like how the article said something about possibly selling them for parts... that would be idiotic since you can basically build a camaro off of the parts we sell for cheap in the members section here

In one of the other news articals It stated that there was no alarms or video at the dealership.

I think GM should pull their name from the dealership. HELL NO ALARMS NO Video you cant protect our cars you cant sell them.

It reminds me the movie "60 seconds"
Inside containers? us port authorities must scan every container, dont they?
Onstar disabled? Someone inside the dealer is involved!

That dealership has had problems for awhile. They've changed owners probably 4 or 5 times in the last 10 years. Their service department took 3 times to order the correct sideview mirror for my fourth gen. Each time they brought me in and made me wait 3 hours to tell me they had the wrong part.
