3.70 and 600rwhp

Happy new year.
Is it worth to install 3.70 gears on a supercharged SS producing 600whp??
We don't have a track here so no Track racing but I do some street racing and most of them from a roll still have the stock rims and wheels although planing to change them.I have LingenFelter 3.70 gears sitting here in the box wondering to do it or not.
Will the gears effect the car top speed??

P.S the supercharger it's a Novi 1500 so a Centri if anyone is wondering

Thanks
Ahmad

Umm is be careful with street racing. And have you strengthened tieback end or axles at all? Id be worried about breaking something.

You will lose a few MPH but only at the very top end. You will gain a noticeable improvement in acceleration through the entire RPM range. If your car is an M6 the change will not be as impressive as if you had gone with 4.10.

I'm not sure if it will be worth it for the kind of racing you do. It sounds like you're into roll on racing and running high speeds (top end racing).

With 600+ hp the gears could make it difficult to hook up on the street (seeing you don't race on a prepped track).

From a rolling start the torque increase would be a big advantage for getting the jump. If they do run out to max speed then it could hurt on the top end.

If he can hook up on the street with all that power. But from a roll, he should be ok.

Friday, when I was getting BMR Trailing arms installed on my Camaro, an old timer/racer at the shop tried to convince me to put 3:73 gears on my car . He almost had me sold. He said I'd definitely get in the 11s if I did.
I put gears in my 99 A4 z28. They definitely help get the car moving.

He would absolutely need to make sure he has the appropriate supporting mods. That is always the case. I tend to take for granted that people are consulting with a professional that is making sure they are not only building horsepower but taking steps to make sure it is safe and reliable. At 600HP he should have a pretty solid suspension set up.

In the L99 cars the 3.73s ROCK.

By upgrading the factory 3.27s in the stock A6 equipped Camaro SS to the 3.73s you will realize an equivalent gain of approximately 15% or 61.5 rear wheel lb.-ft. of torque on a stock car. Since your car is modified it would be even greater improvement. The best part is that in these A6 cars you will only be at 2050 RPM at 70 MPH.
