I didn't forget you!
When I left work, it didn't take long to come across a moron to attempt to replicate the issue. I was driving forward in the right lane, when a woman decided she would attempt to turn right into my path. I pressed the brakes & honked, but the audio didn't mute. I assumed that I previously had accidentally pressed the button.
Later, I was driving forward on a main thoroughfare, when a driver decided to dart from a side street across the road to the other side. This time, I had to slam the brakes & I held the horn down. The audio muted! Believe me, I'm not crazy!

Someone almost side swiped me the other night I laid on the horn and my music muted. Turned if off for a minuet or so and back on and sound was back. It might have to do with the length of the horn press and braking combined.

PDXSSCE......considering that because of the area you live, we must assume that there are lot of bad drivers......which gives you the opportunity/need to use your horn more than normal, with that in mind.....I am sure you know that our horn are pretty sad to say the least. I came up with a solution to this a few years ago and built a DIY and posted it here for all....its VERY effective. here is the link to it.....something you may want to consider.

Happened to me as well. I think it has to do with how hard you hit your brakes - slowing down quickly it won't do it. Emergency braking (as in highway speed to zero in 2 seconds) it'll do it
Actually now that I think about it don't all 5gens have OnStar? OnStar also has their accident response thing where they connect to you after an accident. It has to have some sensors to recognize a roll, collision, or rapid deceleration (like when someone cuts you off and you hit the brakes.) So it could be cutting off music to prepare for them to call you (or maybe the call is placed at that time already). I'm also wondering if it cuts off the AC/Heater fans if they're on high, as well to quite it down. I'm going to try it without hitting the horn today and report back. |

I remember seeing a video on here from a member's dashcam in which he almost gets sideswiped, slams on the brakes, and his audio mutes. I'll try to find it but I'm assuming it does it at a certain amount of force on the brakes.
Edit: Found the video.

Try flipping the driver off. It may turn the radio back on
