Bought my house a year ago in West MI , 1400 square feet (2800 if the basement was finished) with a single car garage attached to the house and a three car heated garage not attached, on 2.6 acres with a stream running through it. Paid $125,000… Same house in Detroit would be well over $300,000 +…

Just a little tidbit, even if the basement is finished it's not listed as part of the Square Footage of the house.

If that were the case, mines closer to 3600 sq ft.

I was told if it is finished and livable it is counted as square footage in MI. Other wise my house would have sold for more money...

Basement? What's a basement?

It'd be nice if we did have basements down here...but nada.

30-35 is what i will be aiming around.that is if i can find a job once i get out of college in a year. i will prob wait a year anyway to pick one up just so they get all the gremlins out. i dont need a camaro thats like the 2004-2005 GTO's with tires blowing out. that could equal trouble for me at high speeds on the highway.

I don't expect the top-of-the line Camaro to cost much less than $40K if at all. That is also considering about 2 more years of inflation before I buy one.

So my limit will be in the $40K-$45K range, but that will also depend on how much dealers are asking over MSRP. If the top dog Camaro MSRPs for $38K, but they want $42K forget it.

I managed to get my 2005 GT in 2005 for $28.5K with every known option for the coupe. I was lucky because that was when they were really new and popular, and my car had just been delivered to the dealership a few hours prior. I was the first person to even test drive it.

That is actually kinda cool. That is why when I buy new I like to order rather than buy off of the lot - just never know who had their crummy hands all over your new car!

My house that I'm selling soon is about 3,000 sq. ft (including basement). I bought it for $385k almost three years ago. Last year it was assessed at $507k, but I just got my new assessment...$449k. I wish I sold a year ago!

Speaking of appreciation, a friend of mine bought a place in Revere, MA back in 1990 (?) or so and worked on it for quite a while. The house was a nice house, Very big old victorian. Probably quite striking when it was new, but Revere was a rough place to live, lots of gangs and drugs, and she was on a very weird lot.

I think she bought the place for something like $40K despite it being in relatively good shape. She is fairly handy, and did a LOT of work (mostly just cleaning, fixing, etc.

In 2003 she sold it for $585K... Now THAT's good appreciation! Crazy.

Anyway, I am kind of hoping the market around here continues to slide, as I am looking to buy early next year (after the wedding). Hopefully we'll find something we can afford and are happy with... but I'm not counting on huge appreciation.

The only way I see any dealer I've ever dealt with doing that is if you have them install aftermarket wheels BEFORE you take delivery of the vehicle.

Speaking of that, I hate it when dealerships sell new cars with mods like wheels, tires, etc already on the vehicle. They sell you those parts at a nice huge markup, but they also do not give you any credits toward the OEM parts that are now long gone - nice practice
I don't put like that, poor choice of words on my part, sorry..:( ........but the dealers in my small town all know me and we're friends, I've bought many cars and trucks from them.........and they have always "bought" the stock wheels and tires back from me. My SRT8 was the first car that I loved the stock wheels on, but they bought back the tires.........I changed them the same day I bought it.

I have an Uncle that owns a wheel shop and another family member that owns a dealership whom i bought my Silverado through and it is not uncommon for a dealer to do that. As long as the tires are being taken off right away, then they will buy them back for close to the sticker price of the wheel.

Also, if there is a particular car on the lot that you like but you wanted a different wheel option, they will almost always swap the wheels at your request and just change the sticker to reflect the change. I also had this done on my Silverado.

BTW those are some good looking wheels!
