Order kicked back from GM

A friend of mine ordered 3 weeks ago and gave his deposit, all excited. I ordered my car shortly after.

He called in a panic today and told me i better check on the status of my car.

Well, the short of it is GM kicked the order back to the dealer and told them they cannot fill the order. Told my buddy to come get his deposit back. I ordered from a different dealer up hear in Springfield, MA but i'm worried now.

Anyone have any advice or hear the same thing?

It means they likely don't have an allocation at that dealer.

Can they place an order into GM on the computer without allocation? Sounds fishy...

A dealer can put any order on any vehicle in via their quick order system. However, if they do not have an allocation that order will never move above "1102" and then should eventually be kicked back out.

Yes they can even if they don't have a allocation.

My first dealer has an order #but that is still in despite them not having an allocation.curious to see if it moves. It is still at 2030 as is my regular order at a dealer where i am #2 of their 2. Until you get a VIN I will stay nervous.

Either the dealer doesn't have an allocation and you have to go somewhere else, or you missed the 2012 order deadline, and will have to reorder a 2013.

there are still cars out there at msrp that are dealer ordered or alocations that have not been picked up yet.

Don't always trust dealers. they want your order if they don't have a 2012 alocation and they can jedi mind trick you into waiting till 2013 then they make a sale.

I have already had this kind of happen to me. I ordered at russell in arkansas third in line. first two have been picked up. Got a call from a local place they wanted me to switch my order. Niether place could tell me which alocation would get picked up first. Russell wanted less deposit so I stayed there. Now the order at guaranty chevrolet is at 3400 wile I sit at 1100 at russel. Epic fail on my part I guess. Now I feel stupid for not switching my order. ha ha. ohh well. mine will proabaly get picked up next month. the thing that sucks in the guaranty chevrolet order is not a sold order and mine is. That car is sheduled for production black, carbon inser, manual, sunroof still availible at MSRP last I heard. they never called me and said ohh buy the way our aloction is in or I would have switched. hell if the order was not black I might have switched the other day. white, ashen gray, silver or yellow I might have jumped ship.

This is what must have happened. Hope it doesn't happen here!

I'd like to get a 2012 right away but if it doesn't happen i'll keep driving the Corvette. In the mean time maybe i'll get more space and be able to keep the Vette and if its 2013 I might as well get the convertible
