I agree. Fluid change on an auto is cheaper/easier than a clutch. I also think the quarter mile performance gap between the A10 and M6 ZL1 is going to be much larger than the SS's A8/M6

+1 on that. Not only is a manual generally less maintenance, it's much cheaper to service too.

I can only go off my personal experience. I had an auto on auto-x car I ran for years and I was constantly draining fluids, dealing with the transmission cooler (leaks, etc), and having to have the torque converter replaced. I finally decided the next car would be a manual. I have since had two manual cars with several hundred track hours and have never touched anything related to the tranny. Just my experience. Your experience may differ. And as far as speed, in the 1/4 mile an auto will almost always be quicker but on a road course, with proper gearing, I will take a manual. Again, just me.

Yeah,....that's if you're tracking your cars though. Most here don't do that. I'm "assuming". lol I know I don't.

If orders go through, I would love to know what prices people are getting, if everyone is so inclined to post what they paid.

Believe it or not orders can get picked up by the system and cars produced before the pricing comes out. They only have to have exact pricing for delivery ..

Basically you're buying a pig in a bag...

Having said that production only starts at the plant on Oct 10th so still
Lots of time left ...

just an fyi, Sept 8th (today) is the day GM starts contacting dealers who have been assigned an allocation and asking them how they would like to fill it (color, options, etc.). For those that have secured an allocation with a local dealer, your build will be what they submit in most cases. Anyway, I kinda got the feeling that some folks thought it was going to be several hundred deals submitting ZL1 orders this morning and that is not how it goes. Even if your dealer has an allocation, and you have gone on the GlobalConnect site and selected the options you want for your build, the dealer cannot submit that build until GM is ready to receive it. I am sure a few will get in today but the actual submission process will take several weeks as GM systematically contacts each dealer who has a Phase 1 allocation.

You guys may have know this already but I just thought a would clarify for some of the newbies.

That does help. So being the early bird has no benefit in this scenario. they should just deliver to whoever is the most ready. Instead of the potential customer feeling like its a game of chance.
