My GRANDFATHER flew on the B52 when it was brand new and if they stay in service until 2040 I will be 57 years old. That is incredible.

I just came from Barksdale and worked in supply for the B-52....they are saying 2040, but parts are becoming very, very scarce. Will be interesting to see if they can stick around that long.

I don't know the answer. But it's not exactly tied down like all of the other equipment. It's definitely, currently at least, set up to be moved. Maybe they are moving it from one permanent spot to another or maybe they move it when they want, I have no idea. But it's on it's wheels and maybe slightly visible in the pic is a tractor behind it they tow it and/or other aircraft with.

Looks like a great time had. The Alabama is still standing proud. She got hurt during Katrina and does has a 2% list which they have not been able to fix. The submarine that is there was in the water and sunk during Katrina heavy stern damage. She now sits on land. Also allot of the planes in the hanger had heavy damage and are being slowly restored. They get hit when the storm surge came in thru the hanger and stacked the planes on top of each other.

The A-12 has been outside for at least a year now. I am trying to remember if it was ever inside but I think it was inside the year before last.

It's pretty rare to see A-12 or SR-71 outside...I've wanted to have a picture took outside next to one for a long time.
