2014 Stingray in the $50K Area?

I'm currently a young Camaro owner and lately I've been planning my next big vehicle purchase. I've been working hard and saving every penny but I'm not anywhere close to being made of money. I've fell in love with the 2014 Vette and would like to make it my next car but wasn't sure what to expect for a price range.

I know that there hasn't been much info yet but what are you guys expecting for some ball-park figures? I heard some people saying that there may be a base model around the low $50k area? I've also heard rumors of a $40k range smaller V8 model in the future but I'm really looking for the lowest 2014 prices. Will all the models be stingrays with 6.2 V8's or will there be others this year? I'm really hoping that $71k rumor isn't the cheapest....

Harlan Charles announced at Sebring that pricing will be set late April. Until then rumors you heard are the rumors everyone else has heard as well. If I were a Camaro fan and saving for the next big vehicle it would be the Z28.

Ok thanks for the info. I would have definitely bought a Z28 if they kept the old design and the speakers. I love the wheels, seats and the performance but the ugly new design completely ruins it....

If anyone else has some esitimates/guesses in mind for the cheapest 2014 model let me know!

No one outside of GM knows for sure yet. 2013 1LT C6 goes for $49,900 MSRP right now. They could bump the price up 5% or 10%. Many are guessing the latter (me included) and think a 1LT with no options at all hits around $54,000. If it's less then I'll be very happy. It'll give me more money for tires and driver improvement at Spring Mountain

You're price question has been answered.

Couldn't agree more. It's too bad that the rear end of the new camaro looks like a bag of asses. I can't for the life of me get used to it. And that is saying a lot coming from me. A lot of times I will wait till I see it in person before I make a final decision. But I really don't think that will help in this case. They sure as hell didn't use much imagination. It took three years to make the first camaro, but ten minutes to ruin it.

I heard (rumors) that the new Corvette would be priced similarly to the current C6. Not sure how, but that is what I heard. Like was said above, pricing comes out in April/May. My dealer that I am putting a deposit down with said the same thing about pricing...no one knows until April/May time frame. I hope it is, but I am not holding my breath.

The new Z/28 ....love the wheels and seats, hate the rear like everyone else....I don't want a car with only 1 speaker and no A/C... or A/C as an option. If that is the only way you could reduce weight....not very imaginative, especially with lighter weight materials like carbon fiber.

hell, I'm amazed they got as much weight out as they did. The Zeta platform is a big ass car and there's no getting around it. This isn't 1967 and Penske anymore with acid dipped panels. You want fast & comfy? ZL1/ZR1 is your ride apparently as far as GM is concerned. The Z/28 is a pure track rat with zero creature comforts. And I'll agree with the haters on the new rear.

I would think the Z/28 will be quicker but not cheaper than the Stingray. Reuss had said at the presentation it is not meant to be fast only in a straight line. With all the performance goodies and the lack of creature comforts, this car (Z/28) may be one of those cars you wish you bought instead of.

I have the impression that the Z28 will outperform the Stingray. The only thing I find odd is to offer a Camaro that can defeat your flagship. So I expect there is something up the Stingray's sleeve that we don't know yet.

At this point I'm 85% sure I'm going to cancel my Stingray reservation and wait for the next z06.

apples to oranges. A z/28 may be faster on a track and if that's your only criteria then stick with the camaro. I'll say again that you're talking about a ponycar with a back seat and specifically setup for the track (3700 lbs) versus a luxury 2 seater that weighs 300-400 lbs less. Will there be a FI C7? Yep, we've already seen all the signs for the LT4 to make an appearance soon. Can you expect a Z06 version of the C7? Certainly seems logical given Chevy's history. But they're two totally different vehicles with two totally different missions IMHO. Although I'm sure someone will line up a Z/28 against a Z51 optioned C7 just to see what happens as soon as both are available.

What is Chevy doing? I feel like I love it...I am confused by it. Camaro ZL1, then the Stingray, then talk of a entry level Corvette coupe, then a Z/28. Why don't they just start producing the heck out of the Stingray and then bring to market others? I went from C7 gotta have it to well... maybe I'll wait. Strange marketing. What if the next competitor takes a leap with a similar priced car with DCT or AWD then what? Read Little Red Ink Corvette and you hope GM has learned from its past.
