I didn't catch that, but that's totally inaccurate - condensate is on the outside due to a cold windshield and warm, humid outside air (100% humidity here in the mornings with temp at ~80F).

Remove the windshield?

Yea... No thanks. I'll just live with it instead of having some idiot ruining my car over some condensation, or make my own cover for the defroster.

That's just dumb.

I've said it soooo many time's now........
You guys need to educate yourselves before dropping your car off to just Joe Blow... Shop dealers and talk to the employees.. Find a dealership that employees actual "enthusiasts" .. Not the 7-5 guy...
You wouldn't buy a car before test driving it would you?? What about a pair of shoes? You try them on first right?
I've had various dealerships ruin/break parts of my cars in the past. Also, had one screw up a previous Camaro to the point where I had to get GM corporate involved and still couldn't get it resolved. Had to sell the car due to some moron's disrespect for something I worked for. Plenty of people on here have also had issues. That's why we don't like them. No interest in having a few guys with no respect for other people's stuff beat the crap out of my car on the road when they were just fixing a piece of trim with no reason to be driving the vehicle on a highway.

That repair pays a total of 1.5 hours to the tech... That's a tricky procedure for that time. It should be straight time to the technician as it probably would take several hours to do properly and verify doors are working properly when done.

Hard to believe they published a flat rate time for that procedure.

I've always took my previous non-GM cars to dealers for repairs and warranty issues and never had a bad experience. Really wanted to get this condensation issue resolved but this dealer abuse talk is scaring me off.

Yea, I've never had issues with any vehicles unless they're performance vehicles. Dealerships are usually fine with the basic ho hum car. I just make sure they didn't curb the wheels and a few other things before I leave.

When I HAVE to deal with a dealership with a car like the Camaro, I take pictures in front of the service adviser of the rims and each side of the car. Although admittedly the ones of the sides of the car are usually further away and less detailed.

I also make sure they understand that they're not allowed to leave the lot without me present. I'm doubting there's truly a way to reinforce this but if they take it out I want to be in the car to see if the issue was resolved along with the tech.

Now, if it's something like a transmission/engine issue that actually requires them to drive it and me to leave the car for a few days, that's understandable even though I would rather no one be driving the car.
But, I've had a service tech take a previous Camaro out for a 12 mile "test drive to make sure the mirror was fixed" when I needed the rear view mirror tightened and the dash trim replaced because it was bubbling in the middle (a common issue on the 2012 Camaro). That same dealership pulled the entire dash out of the car before reading the directions and seeing that just the trim piece had to be pulled off and replaced. The dash was never aligned properly and rattled in different places after that. I never went back to that dealership.

Same car; I've had another dealership hit the lift as they pulled in to the bay and put a nasty gash into the rim. It left the blue paint from the lift engraved into the rim. They denied it and said I hit a curb with blue paint. You know... that color that all those curbs are painted with... That's the reason for pictures now. I'm sure I could have pushed it much further and gotten it fixed by them but I was younger and way more inexperienced then at dealerships. So that's more likely on me for not forcing the issue.

Unless absolutely necessary, I won't leave my car with the dealership overnight and will stay at the dealership until the issue is fixed.

Also, if allowed, I'll go back and talk with the tech and foreman as repairs are going on and help them identify the issue that I came in for and see if they've found any other things worth noting. I recommend finding a dealership that allows this and get to know some of the guys out there. I'm not saying sit out there the entire time like a helicopter and annoy the guys working on your car. But sometimes pointing out the issue while they're looking at it can go a long way. Now if you don't know anyone and just walk out there it's probably not appreciated, but the dealership I normally go to used to allow this. Maybe that's changed in recent years. I haven't had to bring in a vehicle to them in a long time.

Oh, and if it's a trim issue I try to fix it myself before taking it in. I've learned that they can sometimes make the issue worse instead of better on issues like this.

I'm sure there's plenty of other things I could be doing.

Anyway, that's my useless information/rant for the day and a few reasons why I don't like dealing with dealerships.

Update:

Ok, so I don't know if it was one of you locals that was responding in this thread, but somebody has their car into my dealership's hands for this fix. They are saying to give it a week, because they were not hiding their doubts about the details of this bulletin's tools list and hours charged. So it sounds like they want to research and do it right, which is great.

They asked me to let them get this first car done then call back to talk about setting up my appointment. Was that any of you? (Ferman Chevrolet in Tarpon Springs, Florida)

I'm not letting them remove my windshield. I'm going to sell mine and just get a Mustang.

So, if you get a crack in the windshield & can't see to drive, are you going to sell the car to avoid getting the windshield replaced?

Don't let it bother you. My dealer has been fantastic with any issues either of my Camaros have had. I'm waiting to get mine back for the AC foam removal & they were taking the windshield out in the process.

I don't see what the big fear is with this issue. Maybe I'm just lucky to have had a competent dealer taking care of me.

If there's a problem with the windshield leaking or something after this fix, then I'll take it back. If it still can't be fixed, then it's lemon law time & I can get some money from GM and they will send a specialist to get it done right. But no way will I get rid of this car over this issue.
