Front Aero Panel Installation

I received my Front Aero Panel (Lisence Plate Bracket) with no instructions or mounting hardware.

Anyone have instructions and pictures of the hardware that was supposed to come with it?

Mine came with the Car. Did you get the two Plastic Mounting Screws that fit into the Grill? It's a simple install.

If you didn't get them, whoever sold you the Bracket screwed up.

I used mine to mount my Front License Plate. Good old CA, a two Plate State.

Came with your car? What package is it in? I ordered 2LT/Z51.

I was under the impression that this was an aftermarket accessory sold by GM.

If it comes with the car, that would save me $130.

If you are in a 2 plate state, GM ships a plate bracket that actually extends above the grill on to the front. It looks stupid. They also ship an aero bracket that fits in the grill and it isthe best I have seen for the front plate from an aesthetic perspective.
GM does not recommend this as your plate holder but it works perfect. Remove the Chevrolet insert and there are 4 dimples in the base just drill these for your plate screws. they line up perfectly.
I received both with my car they were in the back with the other items.

Thanks! If I do get the Aero Plate with my C7, I'll be sending this one back.

Patrick, from GM Parts House, is sending me the 1/4 turn mounting screws.

The aero plate should have been with your car when you picked it up. It is part of the car. The license plate bracket is separate and must be purchased separately ($15) from your dealer.

These are the retainers you use to install the aero plate (note the part number if you have to call to get them sent to you):

They should have been in the car with the aero plate and the instructions below (check the cubby hole in the back to see if it's in there):

You can use the aero plate to mount your license plate by bending the plate and drilling some holes. If your state does not allow you to modify the plate (i.e., bend it), then you need to use the license plate bracket that keeps it flat. It also raises it higher on the bumper for those states that require the plate located at a certain height.

Here's a picture of the aero plate mrrrkva posted on another forum:

Here it is installed:

Here's the license plate bracket installed (notice how high it is):

Thank you! I appreciate all the help.

Looks like I'll be sending mine back since it comes with the car already.

Check in the rear deck storage container at the left rear- driver's side. Mine were in there with the hardware. Good luck!

Yes, all Stingrays come with the aero plate kit. The other plate holder is for a small number of states whose laws require the front license plate to be a certain minimum height above the ground, and the bracket is a mandatory "option" if the car is sold through a dealer in one of those states. Other states have the front plate requirement, but either have no height law, or the required height is low enough the aero plate is sufficient for mounting. Keep in mind that you really should remove the entire aero plate assembly if you ever track your car for cooling purposes, but at least it's designed to be quickly removed and reinstalled.

Keep in mind the one that comes with the car is matte charcoal plastic, unpainted. It looks and feels similar to the plastic console parts inside. You can get aero plates painted carbon flash metallic and body color through the aftermarket. I painted mine carbon flash, but have yet to install it.
