Man one thing I always do is get ready to hammer the gas when turning in that type of deal where you cant really see, That or just wait if I am not sure if its clear to go . Looks like you might of had a chance had you just floored it . Glad your OK

Because that's not the truck that hit him. That one was coming up the lane beside the turn lane.

He may have contributed but was definitely not at fault. The truck could have been doing 80 MPH and it still wouldn't be his fault.

At the 5 second mark you see the whole truck in the lane beside the the turn lane, at the 4 second mark you can see the trucks right headlight coming into view and it is still in the lane beside the turn lane, at the 3 second mark the truck has not yet come into view.

To the O.P. glad your okay and no one got hurt and that you man'd up and took responsibilty for it. I too agree the other two vehicles obscurred the truck until it was to late, which is irrevelant at who's at fault. I didn't see him change lanes either. And as far as him having time to brake, some need to research reaction times and complex reation times and on wet roads do some really think the truck is gonna stop that quick.

For the haters on the other guy....I'd be ill if someone just caused a wreck and got me involved with them too. Now he's got to get his truck repaired and all that BS that goes with it for someone else's mistake. Not to mention if it was your prized Camaro that just got taken out. People handled stress differently, most people I've seen are more shocked, but some get pissed and want to fight especialy if their family members were put at risk. If you cause a wreck, how can some expect the other party not to get mad or how ever they react?

The truck behind that truck hit the Camaro, and the white truck was traveling in the middle lane, not making a turn.

You are never in the right when you make a left turn. Typically, the laws are worded to the tune of, "You may only make a left hand turn within an intersection when the intersection is clear and you are able to safely make the turn."

Regardless of where the white truck was, the intersection was not clear and it was not safe to make the turn.

I know I'll be looking really carefully the next time I make a left turn like that. Remembering that there could be another vehicle coming up the curb lane like that, even though I can't see it, will definitely give me pause!

The traffic light from the other direction should have been red if the OP had the green light (which he did) He could protest his liability with the evidence from his dashcam, submit it to the city traffic safety committee for review of the timing of intersection lights.
