Done - Even if the insurance company decided to fix it, I would take the insurance proceeds & trade it in, that thing is a MESS.

Actually, that's probably an optical illusion you are seeing. The yellow on the door is actually a reflection of the tree. The gap in the door jam is also an illusion. That's the mirror hanging down.

Yes, I did have traction control off. For the life of me, I cannot remember why I did that. Normally, I never drive with it off.

Ill add more pics as soon as I get them. you can see the other Camaro in the background. great guy was the only one to pull over and check on me after I made an ass of myself.

Dang that sucks! I learned my lesson with my first truck an old 82' Silverado! I learned trying to show out and wet roads don't mix, before I knew what had happened I had it sideways in the road in front of traffic. Now I drive like an ol' lady when the roads are wet!

At least you are okay and you didn't hit someone else's car.

Sounds like this car is very strong and can take a hard hit.

Just get a 2012 ZL1

Edit: perhaps the steering wheel bag only deploys if the frame at the front deflects (collapses) to a certain measurement, and as you said, the front clip does not look compressed.

Hopefully it is considered totalled due to that driver side rear quarter.

I really have to give GM props for the safety design. For as hard as I hit that tree, it sure didn't feel like it. Strangely though, only the side airbags deployed - not the center one in the steering wheel. Is this because it wasn't a head on collision, or do you think it was failure to deploy?

The circled area is an illusion?

I just realized i said wheel well and not specified rear or front. Maybe that was the confusion.

Glad you were not hurt. Pics of the car make me want to cry.

Again...why does anyone feel the need to drive on the road (not track) with the traction control off...There is a reason why it is on the car. Because many people seem to outdrive their talent.

All six air bags went off it looks like. That's $10,000 alone.

He will need to replace pretty much the whole complete back half of the car not to mention any front damage from hitting such a steep hill. Body wise you're looking at at least $20,000.

Already you're looking at the cost of the car and that's not including the cost to repair or replace any hidden damage.

I'm not even going to attempt to access that kind of damage. Looks can be deceiving, but that kink on the qrtr panel is VERY nasty.
