Is that allowed? Technically, it is showing in the front, but still, some states say it has to be fixed to the front of the car.

Texas says farthest forward point. However as long as you can see it from a reasonable distance most police seem to be forgiving. Never had one bother us in the vette. Knock on wood.

HB 625 clarifies that the penalty for operating a vehicle on a public highway without displaying the two license plates assigned to the vehicle is a misdemeanor offense punishable by a fine not to exceed $200.

If it is worded to say you only need to display two plates then they would have a hard time enforcing a ticket with both displayed on the back of the car.

I don't understand how Texas can make a big fuss about displaying 2 plates, and making people move over/slow down for stopped or emergency vehicles, but leave it optional to have your headlights on in the rain. Keeping lights off during the rain seems like more of a hazard than moving over for disabled vehicles.

It's been discussed before and the 2 plates aren't really for a safety issue. LEO use it as an excuse to pull you over. They have talked about how many people they've gotten off the streets by using that tactic.

My front license plate is still in my trunk and will remain there for now. I am taking a chance of getting pulled over but since I only put about 5k miles a year on my car I'm going to gamble.

They definitely use this as an excuse to pull you over to see what else they can get you on. Luckily for me I have a daily with a front plate, and do all of my illegal moonshine transporting with my "dont pull me over white rental looking Malibu!"

I haven't had my plate on my car since I bought it, and I don't plan on putting it on now. There was a penalty attached to the law then too and I never got stopped for it. Even got pulled over for a moving violation and received a ticket for that with no mention of the plate at all. If I get stopped for it I will attach it somehow, but I'm not drilling into my bumper because the state tells me to. I'm not going to deface my car for that.

Here's what I did this weekend.

I still don't have a plate on the front...but I can quickly put it on if I get pulled over by the police....
