Seriously?

This place was fun once. A mirror of the internet lately. Thanks for another reminder.

With that many miles on it I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to total it. I just did a basic KBB and for 98K miles showed between 19 and 22 for trade in value. But now it's also going to have an accident on the carfax.

Repairs aren't cheap anymore

That said... the important question for the OP becomes:

Does the top still fit properly? Driver side rear window may not be operable due to the collapsed panel, but does it still seal to the top properly? If it does and you don't have significant deformation of the back seat support and steel that supports tonneau and top (visible if you partly operate the top), then you're likely in it for <$10k in mostly fender inner/outer work. If the windows won't drop due to interference then you probably cannot raise the tonneau to see unless you pull the fuse for the driver rear window motor. And I have no idea if there are interlocks... ...gonna be a fun one to fix. Might have to pull that dent out before operating the DR window.
Top still fits. DR window still operated. No deformation to the backseat so the backseat support may still be good. I figure they'd just replace that whole rear quarter panel instead of trying to fix the dent.

I don’t think so. As long as the unibody structure isn’t bent like others said.

That's good news. Just the fender outer/inner and the door ... easy peasy!

UPDATE:

It's not totaled. Total cost to the insurance company is $7,019 to repair.

- outer skin on driver's door
- drivers seat airbag & seat cover
- left rear quarter panel
- left rear wheelhouse liner
- left rear suspension knuckle & link rod
- left rear lower arm & lower control arm
- all the labor, paint etc.

the frame isn't bent. How badly does anyone think this will depreciate the car's value on a carfax report?

Once it's fixed have your insurance adjuster provide a diminished value report and payout.

When I looked into diminished value claim was said that it was 18-25% of cost of damage. Using that as estimation roughly $1500-2000. Most of the time if buying new car from them they may not even worry about it.

Don’t get him started we will be back to hearing about his wife working at GM marketing and how his golf clubs would not fit in the trunk so, that is why the new Camaro has poor sales

Good to hear. At this point I would be more concerned with finding a really good body shop. If the repairs are done correctly it will have less impact on selling or trading the car down the road. Hope all goes smooth for you, keep use posted.

Good news indeed!

As to diminished value, about 10%. So on a ~100k mi 2LT vert around $2k.
