I disconnected my perfectly good battery overnight, now wont start.
After posting ..."Fan won't turn off until I disconnect battery" I disconnect neg. terminal battery under hood yesterday. Today I reconnect and battery is dead...Anyone know WTF happened? Also a 500amp/1000 peak amp jumper won't start it.

I don’t think the terminal cable under the hood will disconnect the battery. You have to disconnect the negative cable from the battery in the trunk.

It seems odd that it won’t start with a jump. Some chargers have internal protection that they won’t run unless they detect a minimum voltage. Maybe the battery is so drained that the charger’s protection kicked in. Some chargers have an “override” to charge a dead battery in a situation like this. Maybe disconnect the battery and recharge it. Then reconnect the battery and see if it will start.

Do you have a multi-meter? If not, go down to Harbor Freight and get you one.
A fully charged battery should be right at 12.6v. Measure at the terminals on the battery itself, and then measure at the posts under the hood. You shouldn't see any drop. This will tell you that you have continuity from the battery all the way to the posts. That doesn't necessarily mean the battery is good, but it will give you an idea of the state of charge if it will hold one. Your power distribution block has fusible links. If you're not getting any power in the car, but you've got juice to the end of the cables under the hood, one of those links could have burned up. |

Seems my jumper is not fully charged. Charging it now then will go out and retry the jump. |

If you didn't actually disconnect the battery, and something is not operating correctly in the car, something was pulling the charge of that battery down rapidly. |

I got it started the Jumper was putting out no where near what should have been. My ins. co sent a truck to jump it and all seems to be working now. But I still will replace the thermostat because it will probably happen again.
