it's going to have to go up an awful lot before they total it. unless there is hidden frame damage I don't see how that could be totaled. I wouldn't start shopping for a new car quite yet

Repairs on these cars are surprisingly expensive. When I was hit in my 2011 it was a $9000 repair. I didn't get totaled but I ended up moving to a 2013 SS anyway. I doubt yours it totaled. In order to total a vehicle now, repair costs have to equal 100% of the vehicles value. 50% is where they state a Declaration of Depreciation. Here are some pictures of the damage:

depends on your insurance company. most total out at 65-85% of replacement value. they do that because once you start fixing your always going to find more, or break things getting them off. at 100% its very likely the repair will be more than replacement value. there are a couple that do 100% though. I believe SF is one of them.

Sucks bro! Glad you're alive and safe. Start looking for a used 2011 SS and call it a day.

I agree that it definitely doesn't appear totaled.
You should buy a 2013 or be one of the first to own a 2014 Blue Ray Metallic w/ White or silver stripes. then there are the rare Hot Wheels & and Dusk Editions. A Hot Wheels deleted Kinetic Blue would be super rare if that's your thing. Nothing beats buying new, and used cars always seem to come with a few surprises that will make you wish you bought new. Even if they were a 1 owner clean carfax vehicle. |

Sorry to hear, OP - don't know about repair cost except that when replacing or straightening (will never be the same) metal pan underbody that is the car's frame, then it must get expensive. Not to mention suspension, panels, paint, plastic, more paint, labor hours, fudge factors, etc. Can add up and if insruance says it's totaled, there you go.
Man I don't know what I'd buy if not another 5th gen. Maybe a 1st or 2nd gen *if* I could find Barrett-Jackson quality?? We could fly there bid, win, and then have to have it shipped home. But then get 14 hwy mpg like I used to get with my '71 Chevelle 307? I'll take 24 hwy mpg with the 5th gen SS. Also wouldn't have half the comfort and convenience options. Yes, 1st gen would be a true classic, numbers match, original paint, etc., but a lot of people's eyes go just as wide for newer ones. Not saying the older gens are bad, just different and not as good a match for our needs. Anyway, my classic '69 or '70 would be a B-Body, Caprice or Bonneville. Yes, I'm weird, haven't changed much since high school. So what ever your "style" is, go for it!
