Well, I'm probably not the first female member, but more likely the first to post…

And as far as the "Girls take over," that was featured in a commercial for the first generation GTOs. I'm just kinda borrowing it!

Hmmm… What is the job description that goes along with that "Queen of the Board" title?

Cars in general are a male dominated hobby. Women might like a car but not care enough to get on a message board and talk about it. There's a few out there, but not that many. Why did/does the Mustang sell better to women? It's slightly smaller in overall size, doesn't have the huge nose the 4th gens had that was hard to park with since you couldn't see where it ended. Mustangs have a more upright seating position and are easier to get in and out of as well as having a real trunk and not a heavy hatch with what appears to be a small cargo well vs a larger trunk in a Mustang. One of the oddest reasons I was given when I asked a girl why she liked Mustangs...."I like the horse on the grill." That was her WHOLE reason for liking the car...nothing else.

I'll agree slightly with Getgone. Maybe Im different from other women, I dunno, but I am worried about the long hood. My everyday car is a little Tiburon so this will be totally different. I did however learn to drive in a Suburban and I occasionally drive my mother around in a Town Car, talk about long hood. When I used to work for a radio station I drove a Suburban, a van like Scooby Doo style (a bit difficult) and a Silverado which sometimes towed a 12 ft. trailer (THAT was damn difficult at first). Imagine turning into a dead end in a car dealership surrounded by new vehicles! Oh wow I never care to relive that!!! But it was kinda cool hauling that truck and trailer and people taking a double take when they saw little me driving. Anyway, I'd like to think this is my new hobby!

Alright Luna, you rally the women here, and get some more to post. We have several women in our Club that have their own Camaros.

I decided to dredge this poll up from dead to see where things stand.

Hey new members, why not count yourselves in!

Men are more likely to be car enthusiasts than women. There's no sexist reason for this that I can devise, but this site is full of very smart car enthusiasts.

I also belong to CobaltSS.net, which has similar statistics, but the poll results do show more women on the Cobalt site. The Cobalt is much less masculine than the new Camaro. There are also more idiots on that site because most people there are high schoolers and college students who don't have any respect for their whips.

The stats look to be about the same as my classes. The term we coined for it was 'unfavourable ratio'. In my engineering classes its a tick over 10:1 (3 women in a class of 32). Oddly enough I thought it would be worse!

As far as the Camaro being a guys car or not, I would rather see GM and the other makers orient some of their cars to one side or the other than appeal to everyone. Attempting to please everyone results in a car that people will eventually settle for but few will be drawn to. As for what seperates 'guys cars' from 'chick cars' (no offence meant), well im not very sure. Men seem to want something that is capable of doing more than just going from point A to point B. Women tend to want cars that make that journey as easy as possible. I don't know, its hard to generalize these things because of all the exceptions out there. And this is getting a bit off topic anyway
