BEST CAM UPGRADE FOR 2012 ZL1

I'm pretty sure this has already been discussed, so
I'm sorry in advance.

I'm trying to decide between a stage 2 or stage 3.
Which one works best for the ZL1? Any suggestions?

From me asking similar questions the answer is it depends on what you are wanting out of your car as to what will be the best fit for YOU.

Completly depends on your goals and how much drivability you are willing to sacrifice. Stick to a 220 to 224 intake duration if you want good power and still have decent street manners. Brian Tooley has developed some custom cams that are not as hard on the vavletrain as a lot of the other "tuner" cams out there.

One of my neighbors has a stage 3 on his SS but I don't like how it sounds. My other neighbor has a stage 2 and it sounds really good. It almost sounds as good as my ZL1 with the noweeds diverter fully open if not better when he starts it up. I'm concerned how my ZL1 will sound with either one.

I have kooks LT header w HF cats, LPE 650HP kit, KDI HX, NOWEEDS, etc.

Of course "Stage 1" or "Stage 2" or "Stage 3" means nothing because one tuner may have a Stage 1 that is equivalent to another tuners Stage 2.

The cam with good power jump and perfect manners in the LS9 cam from the ZR1. Cheap too. Most say its worth 30rwhp.

Wish I had your neighbors. I'm surrounded by a bunch of people with foreign cars that even know how to check there oil let alone change it... As far as cam, I've read good gains from the LS9 cam because it hardly effects drive ability and gives 30-50 whp

Well there are enough Camaros in my apartment complex to start our own club. I'll look into the LS9 cam.

Thanks though.

Stage 2 or 3 can mean thousands of different possibilities depending on who your talking about buying from.

JRE offers proven Camshaft Profiles that can give you the best all around package, Tough Idle sound with great driveability and Power.

Ted.

I will be ordering my future parts from JRE. They are a great company and helped me this morning with a tech issue.

you need to start comparing acutal spec's as opposed to stages. try so see if you can find someones car to drive or ride in.

on a buget the ZR1 cam shines. It is like $109 and you can run the factory ZR1 spings and retainers which are also affrodable. It is not going to have as agressive of sound but the drivabiltiy will not suffer.

Going custom I would Call JRE personally their free retune program will keep my business.

most cam's with more agressvie spec will induce a bit of surge at no throttle but sound amazing.

LPE uses the GT9 cam in the 700+ package which is a little more aggressive with a little over .600 of lift
