2 V6 / SS offer low pressure nitrogen charged hydraulic struts
1 offers MR shocks
1 offers DSSV shocks

I get that the MRC is a great system but it would be wasted on me. I enjoy the ride of my 1LE so I would never adjust it to a softer setting. If they do build a 1LE, I would prefer they spend the R&D money on making the car faster around a track than developing the MRC system for that car. GM needs to leave something for the enthusiasts and I think it should be the 1LE. It is already a low volume option but is very well regarded.

GM may elect to maintain all 4 but I can see 1LE and Z/28 being folded into 1 car. This is a lot of variation, but I also see GM having to at least match Ford with the GT, Track Pack, GT350 and GT500.

I think they are an engine short of maintaining the 4 for Gen 6. But as I've said, I hope there is a new variant in the works that fits in where the wonderful LS7 sits today. I think that engine could also benefit a Grand Sport Corvette.

Think of the Gen 5 without the LS7...............or think of a 1LE with the LS7, something many were hoping for.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out and I would bet that whenever the Gen 6 is introduced to the public...............these questions will not be answered.
Based on what they did with the Corvette, I bet they plan on using the SS to cover the GT, GT track pack and GT350. The Z/28, probably LT4 powered, will try to cover the GT350R and GT500.

As much as I hope they build a new LTx engine, I haven't seen any rumors or hints at an LS6 like engine or even a new Grand Sport. With the gen V small block, GM skipped to the end with the LT1 and LT4. I doubt they will build anything else. All the rumors I have been seeing are the C7 being a stop gap car for the C8 mid engine car.

I thought I'd leave the suspension set to "sport" all the time too but once I felt "tour" take most of the bobbing bounce out, I quickly preferred to leave it there when just driving around town. Its really nice!

Sport and PTM is for play time. Tour is great for around town

The 1LE is well regarded and justifiably so. I am guessing here, but if there is a 6th Gen 1LE option it will most likely be six pot fronts / bigger brakes, differential, stab bars, wheels and tires.

The 5th Gen 1LE has revised struts. With MRC there is no need to physically change th struts. At most, they get a more aggressive program.

Overall, I expect to see MRC on all but the least expensive GM vehicles. It ties into the the safety net of ABS, TC and SC that GM started a few years back. As the cost continues to drop the usage will increase.

Unfortunately, I agree. I believe GM is going to consolidate everything in as few models as they can. It cuts down their R&D and the number of engines they have to develop. The SS will more than likely cover what the current SS, 1LE and, to some extent, the Z/28 in that it's the high performance N/A car. The Z/28 will cover the ZL1 and Z/28, where the base SS can't.

If the SS comes with MRC, there really is nowhere else they can take it with a simple package like the 1LE is today. It would force it out of existence. At most, it would be some brakes and tires, with maybe some aero.

If I had any say, I would build it like this:

Improved LT1 to 500+ hp/tq
7 speed manual
hard top only
19" wheels with 295 square tires
Torsen LSD with optimized rear gears. Not sure if 3.91s are needed like on current 1LE and Z/28.
Upgraded bushings, maybe urethane
Would prefer hydraulic dampers
6 pot front, 4 pot rear Brembos with two piece rotors
Recaros
Alcantera steering wheel and shifter
Full aero or at least tiered aero system like Z06/Z07

I hear that recent 'Ring times have NOT been record-breakers. However, an inspection of the track may give some clue as to the reasons why. Exhibit #1:

The conditions looked fine when we saw the sixth gen spy shots so hopefully we'll see an expected lower dry time for the Z/28. Maybe they'll give it to us to hold us off for the sixth gen reveal. Doesn't make much sense to show the time after all the Z/28s are sold.
