Details on 2019 Mustang Shelby GT500

Looks like the next GT500 is getting close to breaking surface. Photos of engine hardware indicate a supercharged version of the 5.2L, possibly delivering 800 hp. A lot more details in the included article.

That blower looks like it was made with a 3-D Printer. Until Ford makes an announcement it's all BS.

Haha. This has been basically debunked. Even by the Mustang circle jerk fan boys. They are even calling BS on this one.

This is a paradigm shift from what they put out in the 2000s, 90s and before. They put out stuff that was a complete joke compared to performance cars from Europe and even a lot of the snappy handling Japanese sedans and small cars. It seemed like all they could do was make a solid-rear axle overweight soft-car with an auto-trans and low-compression V8, etc.

As cool as the GT350 is, Ford just can't seem to touch the performance car development that GM is into these days. I wouldn't hold out for the GT500, it would really have to be so much faster than anything GM has to bring back some of that credibility, remembering that if they dump enough money into it where it's faster and more expensive than a ZL1-1LE, then there's always the ZR-1 that is a monster, and Ford doesn't even have a chassis to compete with that as far as we know.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a Camaro response to the GT500. The GT500 will exist because Ford does not have a stand-alone response to Corvette. They are forced to stretch the product line to cover everything from budget sporty car to hi-performance GT sports car to sub-exotic track monster with one basic platform. Chevrolet can cover most of the ground with Camaro, allow for some overlap with Corvette (ZL1 / Grand Sport / Z06) and then top it off with a wild ZR1. The GT500 is aimed at the ZR1. That's why the timing of this "leak". A couple weeks after the ZR1 US unveiling.

This was a previous "supposed" pic of the GT500 setup. Look how different the blower is and the intake is on the side. Definitely something odd with the above pic.

Didn’t that end up being a picture from some shop that was just putting a supercharger on a GT350?

Not sure but wouldn't surprise me. But to me the key is that looks like the typical PD S/C used on Mustangs by Ford Performance. Even the Whipple's intake is clearly different than the recent leaked photo.

Whipple developed a new supercharger where the rotor pack sits down in the valley and the intercooler brick is on top. The leaked picture looks a lot like that.

Yes, that is clearly a shop that bolted a blower to a GT350. The filter seems to be nestled inside of a box though (similar to Cold Air Inductions). Put this picture next to a 5.4L or 5.8L GT500 engine bay pic and it looks eerily similar; however, it's simply a modified VooDoo in a current GT350.

While it may not be a Whipple unit (it could be as they have previously made FRPP units) this new piece could be tanking a cue from this design style the GT500 unit could still use the newest TVS rotor pack and a unique upper casing.

This may infact explain GT500's late arrival, thr R&D for this new blower.

Interesting pics, but it adds to the mystery. That Whipple is bigger of course (3L) but you should still see the intake beside what appears to be the pulley. Unless the pulley is on top and the intake is hidden below it due to the angle of the shot. This would be have to be a small blower too given the differences in sizes between that Whipple and one in the leaked pic.

The blower lid looks quite a bit taller in the leaked pic. If you look closely, you can see the intake down lower.

I guess it's hard to tell from the angle and how close the pic is. The pics in the link crysalis posted look to be the same height with the hoses on each valve cover. But like I said, hard to tell.
