v-8 vs v-6..Worth the extra $$ for V8? Or stick with V6
Was really wanting the V8 and was going to wait till next spring for a used one..BUT I heard there is 0% for 72 going on...Looking to spend 34 or under and there is no SS's for that new...But there are v6s...Is it worth the extra $$ for the v8..Not the type to go to track and race but would be nice to have a fun car to drive....I asked my buddy and he just laughed and said buying a v6 is pointless
BTW I once owned a 2010 ss...Sold it and now getting another camaro |

The new v6s are super fun to drive, i would just go test drive one and see what you think. I almost bought a v6 but when i optioned it out to what i wanted, the v8 ended up only being like 1000 more.

Why would your buddy laugh at the V6? I think the V6 is a great engine with sufficient power.
Really depends on your budget, goals ect.. If 1/4 times, 0-60 times isn't top priority the V6 should be fine. |

Also, the 2016s are (or were) 20 percent off. If you can find one still itll be at around your 34k price range. They will probably do the something similar next year for the 2017s to get them off the lot

There is nothing wrong with the V6, go test drive it. it's all about what you can afford and what you like.
Please tell us what your friend drives, if he is actually ripping on the V6 in the Camaro he has not a clue. |

I love the V6! There are plenty of V8's out there that don't have 335 Horse Power.
I also don't mind the 24 MPG lifetime and the Regular fuel. The V8 and T4 take Premium. Whiskey |

The v6 is a great car and id honestly rather have a v6 camaro than any other v8 sports car. But for me, the v8 was almost the same price so i went with it because nothing sounds better than a v8

Go Camaro V6 but in this case that you are coming from a Camaro V8 is not recommended. |

Your buddy is one of those cats with a caveman ego it seems...
If you can get past his clueless mindset, you can drift in a v6, do burnouts, turn off traction and esp to a very low setting to do burnouts and drifting. You don't race, or plan to, and chances are you prob aren't trying to reach 700whp or something like that TO RACE.... so what would be logically wrong with a v6? Think logically what's good for you. Worth is ALWAYS up to the individual. Don't fall for your buddy's half assed a$$hat ego. For myself, I do race, autox and track days. I rarely drag race. A bigger or faster engine is gold for drag racing. Track , ND autox takes a balance of power and handling. So for me it would be pointless to get a v8. I could use the v8 on both style of tracks but I was finally with my 2013 in a v6 and I'm more than fine with the 16 in a v6. If my goals change...I'll upgrade. But to get a v8 just to say you got a v8 is like getting a tattoo just to say you got one. I couldn't see paying more for that. Pay more, for what? An ego so I can go to cars and coffee and pose? I'll pass. If you need a v8, or just want one.. by all means GO for it. But if you don't need one, I don't see a point in spending extra for something you will never fully utilize.

As a V8 owner and former (2010) V6 owner, I can confidently say there is nothing wrong with the V6. Its a great car. But its not a V8 (in terms of power and sound)...you just have to be OK with that fact. That said, we are in an age now where the V6 is making V8 power and speed of just 10 years ago, and the Camaro V8 is making power only reserved for the high end muscle and sports cars of that time frame.
You just have to go test drive one. Also, if you aren't afraid of a few mods, I'd highly recommend doing things that will increase throttle response, and low end power. A throttle controller, ported T/B, and an intake aren't super expensive, and will transform the way the car feels. My old V6 was nowhere near as fast on the top end as my current SS, but I had multiple performance mods done to it (it ran pretty strong), and a tune that woke up the throttle response, and honestly, I think it responded faster than my SS does now in daily driving (hard throttle may be a different story). It wanted to spin the tires during take off at times where I may have not tried to. But if you think you could be happy with a basic 1SS, I'd bet you could get a no-option, or low option 1SS for 34 - 36K right now. So if you value the V8 over a nicely optioned out V6, then it might be worth waiting and searching for a dealer willing to deal on an SS.
