indy ss or new ss

1st I want to say that I enjoy this website, you people make it great. Now my dilemma, buy a 2010 Indy SS for 35k with only 374 miles or a new 2SS/RS tor about the same price. I know it is a personal choice but what are the benefits between the two as far as options, ie, did the 2010 come with hud and other options, etc. Any any positive input would be nice!

no HUD on the 2010. If you are buying it to drive (a lot), get the new one. For a garage queen/collector, the Indy SS would be my first choice.

This car is too much fun to drive to be left in a garage through the week... get the new one, with the HUD and all new features and don't look back

The Indy SS is just another package that anyone can order. It has zero collector value.

Based on just improvements to the 2011 model year over the 2010 (TSBs and such), I would hands down jump on the 2SS.

I would not buy the 2010 Camaro. As mentioned above, way too many issues which require time in dealer service.

No HUD on the 2010 (which is fine, because the windshield is so short from top to bottom). Backup sensors on some later year 2010 models, but not on the earliest models.

Another vote for a brand new one. The Indy package is cute but like they said, no collector value. And not nearly as many issues with an '11 or '12, as they aren't the first production run.

My .02-- go buy an '11. There are plenty on lots right now and the dealers are cutting prices to make room for '12s. Plus, with an '11 you don't have that fugly steering wheel...

Depends on what you want it for but, a low mileage first year very limited pace car certainly does have collector value.

Absolutely false.

Look at what a pace car option cost on a 1969 camaro and then do a dollar comparison on what they sell for in today's dollars. They have zero collector value above that of the actual car.

In case you don't feel like doing the math, a small block Camaro with the Z10 pace car option sold for about $3,900 in 1969. In today's dollars, that is about $25,000. Go to Ebay and you will see 1969 small block Camaros with the Z10 option selling in the area of $15,000 to $17,000.

The *only* pace cars worth money are the documented VINs used in the races and the batch of cars handed out to celebs and other "important" people.

If you want to stand out drive something different get the pace car this car stands out where ever you go. The pace car will make it stand out just that tad bit more rare or not it is not a very common camaro. Witch makes it unique and seeing 90% of people get a 2SS to stand out from the crowed i would suggest that.

Or if you just want to blend in and get mods and just own a camaro go with the other option choice is yours

Excellent advice. This logic dictates that when you're not busy being a post whore, you can be an attention whore instead. Bravo. lol

Some people love the HUD. I hate it and find it distracting.

2012 does have the new FE4 suspension.

That's a good reason to get the 2012, the HUD take it or leave it.

I drive a decepticon themed camaro. Heck anyone of us who drives one is an attention whore we could have gotten any old plain jane cruise or some other "dull" car but what did we end up with? A F!CKING CAMARO if that don't scream LOOK AT ME i don't know what does . You can't drive this car and from all the looks comments stares NOT be an attention whore lol. And i go one step beyond that my decepticon badges make it even more so people can like it or hate it but in the "real world". My car draws so much more attention in a positive way. If you are to drive a car like this may as well go for the total deal and STAND OUT. . To the OP just get the pace car and have fun with it for this reason

This is all dependant on the make model and year of car. Right off top of my head i can think of 81ta 95vette 98vette thay are all worth more than standard car. I do think the 2010 camaro will be in time due to it being a world renowned design hit.
