Congrats! Hope your enjoying your "panty dropper". There are a lot of great people on this forum to talk to about things to improve your car and what it takes to maintain a vehicle such as yours. Take advantage of it we are all friendly! But you will still find the occasional troll.. SMH...

Just thought I'd introduce myself and say how excited I am to own my dream car that I've saved up for since I was 15. I'm a little over 600 miles right now after a week and a half of treating it like my only child. Any tips or tricks for the remainder of the break-in period would be awesome.

Glad to be a part of the Camaro5 family and hope to see some relatives on the road. "Bow-tie till I die."

Grats!
I loved the V6 Camaro so much I bought a second! (after trading in my first, of course, lol) You're gonna love this car.

As for break in, don't be afraid to push her a bit and have some fun. Don't baby her, but don't punish her either.
Basically, abide by the break-in recommendations in the OM *in spirit*.

Have fun!

Back then, it was 'gross hp', which was a rating for the engine with no accessories attached. Today it's 'brake hp' which is hp the engine puts out under load. It's easy to see how 'gross' hp is an inflated rating compared to 'brake' hp.

For example, one of the Chevy 396 cubic inch V8 models put out 295 gross hp, while you are making 300 brake hp. Your V6 is a fairly powerful engine, when compared to many classic muscle car's engines.

Modern engines are pretty cool.
that's right, i had a 97 ss and the new v-6 kills it stock but it was bad for it's day. and i'm quite sure my new ss will out run my chevelle ( mainly due to lack of traction) but he who crosses the line first wins

I just got my V6 about a month ago. It's used and a 2010 and I felt the same way when I got it ... it was what I can afford. But it's a Camaro - it's a 5th gen and everyone thinks it's new anyway because it is gorgeous! I didn't buy it to worry about what others would think, but in the back of my mind when I get all the compliments, I know that yeah, I got something some would kill to own!

Congrats and enjoy it - I know I am!

"so 5th gen V-6 beat 4th gen. V-8."

Don't you understand I was talking about this. ^^
How does a 5th gen v6 beat a 4th gen v8(LS1)? Im guessing you are talking about as in higher "advertised" horsepower number?
I was talking about 1/4 times.
Less weight up front? Ok what about overall weight?-

Also never said 323hp or the v6 is something to be ashamed of. All are Camaros.

Congratulations. My first car was a 1972 Camaro that was in the family. Now I am 30 and still have a Camaro. It will be hard to keep from racing and not show it off but remember people around you dont appreciate your car as much as you do. Drive safe and enjoy every second of it.
