I'm guessing it means that GM did a ton of aerodynamic work on the ZL1 and they can't simply slap a restyled front end on it.

I love my 12 ZL1.

I love the look of the 14 Z/28. Kudos to GM for really going the extra mile on the 5th gen platform. How lucky are we the consumers to have such choices in terms of Camaro? I urge all of you making negative comments or creating comparo threads between Camaro models to just take a moment to appreciate this.

Glad to see GM is listening to thier customers, and came out with a lighter and less comfort options (air conditioning etc). I'm also glad to see the ZL1 will continue it's current design as they did for the 2012's and 2013's.
My wife and I just love the look and ride of our 2013 ZL1 and we plan to do many a joy ride on those warm and clear sky weekends. It's a great time to be owning a camaro .

Would rather have the 16 way powered and cooled Recaros from the CTS-V. No idea why those are not an option on the ZL1? I would pay $3k in a heartbeat for that upgrade.

You are entitled to your opinion but I would still choose the ZL1 over the Z/28. Living in Florida, A/C is not optional for a car that I will drive during the summer. I love the MYLINK system in my ZL and having the ability to choose my driving mode is pure genius because the PTM settings actually work.

My opinion remains unchanged, the ZL1 is still the top of the mountain as far a the perfect blend of performance, styling, and creature comforts but I am excited about what the GEN6 could mean based on this.

I really like the car and have changed my mind about the styling since yesterday but I find it odd chevy is now marketing 3 camaro models that are geared towards track use. Seem to be competiting with themselves. The 1LE seems like an orphan now and I doubt that will be around in 2014 I wont be surprised if they warranty the z28 same as the zl1 for track use. All in all chevy has been doing great at making cars people really want to buy last few years

I think we most street racers would concur on the z 28.

Regarding whether one would buy the Z/28 vs the ZL1. It sounds as though the Z/28 has minimal creature comforts due to it being a track car (is it the more athletic brother of the 2013 1LE?), while the ZL1 is a strong all around car, i.e. touring, tracking, daily driving.

Personally, I believe the ZL1 to be the better car, mostly due to the fact that I have had my 2013 ZL1 since November 2012 and already put on over 13k miles. It is comfortable, and very likeable. I do not see a 'more track ready' Z/28 to be as nice to drive. But, these are merely my opinions.

Now, if only I had another $55k to blow on another Camaro...
but if you wanna ride with the wife in the passenger seat zl1 is the choice . Just my opinion!!

Im still not a fan of the hood or the rear but maybe in person that will change

I love the fact you can option for no A/C. Way cool GM! As little as I drive my toys Id be cool with just 2 seats and a steering wheel

I'm with you all the way. I live in MN and wouldn't want to be without the A/C! And we're planning a road trip to Vegas and back with the ZL1...wouldn't even think about that in the Z/28.

But, it's a Camaro! Look at all the options there are for a single model...LT, SS, 1LE, RS, Z/28, ZL1. No other manufacturer has this breadth of packages. This diversity is only going to benefit us in the long run as far as aftermarket and GMPP parts. Nice work GM!

I hope your right because I hate to make a descion between the zl1 and the z28. Make no mistake though the 2014 z28 will most likely be the legend. That's what gm quoted

In one of these threads fbodfather already stated that they will continue to make the ZL1 in 2014 and it will retain it's current styling.

There will be a 2014 ZL1 and per Fbod post earlier it will retain the front end styling of the 12/13 models. No mention of back end styling but ZL1 stays. Two different cars. If you want street performance with track ability get a ZL1. If the track is your thing get a Z28, no question. The ZL1 is a more all-around super Camaro where the Z28 is more track focused.

They are both legendary. The ZL1 historically is the least used monicker but make no mistake about it...this Z28 will be the best track Camaro ever produced.

There will be a 2014 ZL1, as they've already stated, the rear-end of the 2014 ZL1 will see the updated rear end including tail-lights and spoiler I believe. It will however feature the 2012-2013 front end package including hood to retain the engineering that went into designing the ZL1.

I'm interested to see where these 3 seconds per lap are being gained and around how large of a track. Are they talking VIR? The Ring? Three seconds puts the Z/28 FASTER than a Lexus LFA around VIR. That would put Camaro in #2 and #4 on the Car & Driver 2013 Lightning Lap ... thats pretty impressive considering the LFA is a $300K car or something stupid like that.

Edit: If Z/28 is actually 3 seconds faster around VIR it's 2013 Lightning Lap would be:

2: Z/28
4: ZL1
8: 1LE

Three TOP TEN cars around VIR and they are all priced LOWER than the competition. Way to F'N GO GM!
