Wow this is weird so looking further I'm not sure but I think it's behind the bracket of the Upper Front Grill possibly the front bumper is sagging down a little bit behind that causing that edge of the front grill to seem like it's poking up on that one side I'm going to take it to the dealership on Thursday and see what they say. Worst case scenario help a PDR guy could get this out. But i have a feeling im going to have to live with it.

hey Scott I used your photo and I kind of cropped the photos together in such a way to try to match the body lines in the direction we took the photos and you could all see mine's kind of Dipping down in the back and that's just beyond where the front grill hasn't had that mounts to the underside of the front bumper so I'm kind of curious to see if you guys that have this issue as well can take a picture in a similar direction is this to see if you guys are having the same issue I'm wondering if when the car is leaving the plant if they're accidentally pressing down on the front bumper when they're closing the hood instead of dropping the hood.

Yep, looking at those photos...that’s exactly where the bump is on mine. I’m going to ask the dealer about it when I go for first oil change.

A PDR person isn't going to be able to get this out since it's in the flexible front bumper cover. Something appears to be pushing this up. The problem is getting to the area since the front fascia needs to be pulled off to remove the grill. It's easy to permanently deform the bumper cover. The dealer's body shop tech needs to look at it. I'd drive by their body shop before taking it into the service dept.
I had a rock nick that I was trying to polish out on my 12 ZL1 in an area close to this. I left a permanent impression in the bumper cover from rubbing M-205 around the nick area. I've removed damage much worse damage without deforming a bumper cover before. Last edited by DangerZL1; 08-21-2018 at 11:24 AM. |

Yeah that's not normal. My 2016 doesn't have that bump.

It comes from pressing too hard around that area during washing, polish removal or wax removal.
The plastic bends to the contour of the frame underneath. DON'T PRESS SO HARD!! |

I'm sorry but... I hope you can easily get it fixed. I'm the kind of person that can't unsee issues like this. I bet I polish and wash this area with a feathers touch from now on. |

Slamming hood and palm of hand etc pushing that piece down into grill sub-structure? I noticed delicately attempting to close hood sometimes takes a second effort with more force .... and some may not be finessing it - resulting in that issue. What lurks below? My money is on the force and position of hand(s) when closing. Hell, the PDR person could have done it closing hood using wide open palm SLAM!!! Thoughts?

its common both my 17 and 18 have it. was more noticeable on the 17 because it was black. 18 is red so it doesn't show. whatever you do, just don't sit your ass on the front clip for a picture like i did lol
