Well, its difficult to say which camaro I consider my first. The first car I came home in was 70 camaro, 350/350 stock. The first camaro I bought was a 2000 V6 camaro, I loved that car. I would have gotten a ss but the insurance and payments would have killed be, being 21 and all. But it was brand new, and mine. The last two camaros in my life belonged to my mom, she also had a V6 camaro, cause she loved mine. And another 70 camaro, 350/350 stock. Its like life repeated itself. On to today! Now im counting the days till my new camaro. I hope to have an SS or Z28, whatever the top camaro is for the 5 gen. Still gotta wait a stinkin 2 years

16 years old (now 32) when my parents surprised me with a light blue 1982 Camaro Berlinetta.

So it's all their fault. heh heh

18 when I purchased a 1991 Camaro RS, and 28 when I got my 2002. (2 other cars in between.)

God I miss my Camaro... 2009 can't come soon enough.

Alright, story time.

Back in 1987, my father was doing well for himself for a big Savings and Loan company in North Jersey(before the bust). He recieved a big bonus of about 10k. He planed with my mother that he would take half and they would go on vacation, but the other half he was going to put down on a brand new 1987 Camaro Z28. He always liked them, but never really had one, and to this point, never had a NEW car. So he looked around, and he couldnt find any IROC's in stock, or that no one wanted to deal with them as they were going like hot cakes. So he found this perfect one for him, a red Z28, fully loaded with the 305 TPI, Bose stereo, 15 inch alloy rims, 4 speed automatic (my mom did not want a manual) and it stickerd for 17,500. My dad figured that he was willing to spend 16,800 as his limit. He went to talk to the guy, and they set up an appointment with the salesman to talk numbers one afternoon. So that day, my father says to my mom that he was going to take me, 3 year old Little Al, to the dealer. He looked down at me and said, "Now, when Daddy askes you what's the number, you are gunna tell daddy 'Sixteen Eight' ok?" I looked up and smiled.
We get to the dealer, and they are going back and forth. The dealer claimed that he could not let the car go for under 17k because people were all over it. Back and forth, my father explained that he was ready to deal with 16.8 today. The saleman went back at him and told him that he was not gunna go any lower then 17.2. So my father turns around twards me, sitting in the corner of this big office and said "Alex, tell the man what Daddy is gunna pay for the car." I looked up from playing with my toys and yelled "Sixteen Eight." Well, the salesman flipped out. He said fine, they shook on the deal, and the next day my dad picked the car up.
I had that car up untill about a year ago after I was semiforced to sell it. Tragic day for both my father and me.

The car was replaced by another family Camaro. This car my grandfather purchased new back in 1972 and had it shipped to Antwerp, where he could drive it all around Europe. My Gulf Green aka Baby Puke, 1972 Camaro RS was my grandfather's calling card. He would use his vehicles as a visual business card so that when people saw the car, they thought of him. He always loved big American V8 powerd vehicled, and thats pretty much all he's ever bought. He drove the Camaro all around Europe and America and loved it a lot. He handed it down to me after he saw how big of a Camaro nut I was. I didnt see him durring my life growing up as he was always traveling the world. I saw him once at 2 years old, and again at 15 when I went to Italy with him. He then showed up last Oct having sent a letter to my family. He came and we talked cars, and he saw how into cars I was. It was nice to see someone in my family is as big of a car nut as I.
Anyway, thoes are my Camaro stories. Id like to have one of my own one day, maybe in the next 2-3 years.

Excellent story and I'm sorry you had to sell off the 87 Z28. Maybe one day you'll run across it again. I've heard more than a few stories of those finding their old Camaros years later and buying them back.

I bought my first Camaro in July of 1974. I was 21 years old. It's a Midnight Blue Met. Type LT-Z28. I still own it!

We also have a 1985 IROC-Z, and a 1996 Camaro SS, as well as the 2002 Hot Rod Magazine Ltd. Ed. Camaro. Bought them all new, have not had to sell any of them yet!

I bought my first maro in 98. It was the green 94 you see in the pictures below. I was 18 and I paid cash $13,000. Used V6 with about 30,000 miles on it. Saved the money in one summer workin' at a beat shop doing installations. I beat the shit outta that car, wrecked it the day after I bought it. I cried but I got it fixed. Traded-it-in in 2001 for a brand new z28. Dealership only gave me $4,000 on trade-in. Resale values are a bitch.

My first Camaro was my 67SS350 that I bought in 1981 as a basket case and I was 29. It was 15 years before I drove the car for the first time, the summer of 1996. I still own it today and I don't think I will ever sell it!

Well let's see I'm 49 now. I was 17ish then and this was my first and only Camaro and it was my second car ever; a 1968 RS, blue with a 327 and a 4 speed stick. I think it had some rare options; white interior, factory 8 track player on the console door, and a fold down back seat. I loved that car, owned it for 8 or 9 years and still have a picture of it hanging here next to me in my home office. It was also the first and only car that I built and installed a motor for; 350 with a 350HP/327 cam, "rock crusher" muncie tranny, yadda, yadda, yadda. From those days forward I always dreamed of hitting the lotto and buying my all-time-favorite '69 Z-28 with the 302 cross-ram, hugger orange with white rally stripes. Well, this Gen 5 is changing my mind...............

16, a 1983 Z-28 with a 305 and a five speed.

At 19-ish, it was a 1996 Z-28 with the six speed. Red. Only one I've ever seen with matching mirrors and roof panel.

Unfortunately I have been camaro-less for about 5 years now... wow time flies.

I ordered my 1st New camaro in Sept of 1990 at the ripe old age of 17. My 1991 RS Camaro came in Nov of 1990 I believe it was the 17th. My RS was Ultra Blue Metallic. I enjoyed My 91 RS very much, I put 160,000 miles on it in 3-1/2 years I had it before totaling it out. After Totaling the 91 I bought my current IROC. I have owned several others along the way, but these are the only 2 that REALLY count.
