I'm confused...

Q7T is a $495 option and see footnote 1

Q7T "Wheels, Black aluminum, 19" x 8.5" (48.3 cm x 21.6 cm) front and
20" x 10" (50.8 cm x 25.4 cm) rear. 1 - NOTE: Car is being ordered with 2 complete sets of optional wheels. Please make sure customer desires both sets of optional wheels before proceeding."

I asked the same thing. As I read it you get the normal rims and then the black rims also.....for that price.

Precisely that's why GM corrected themselves... the optional wheels will replace the standard silver ones therefore you will only get 1 set.

Which means the optional black wheels are factory installed and not dealer installed. Makes sense to me.

And Fenwick, here is the order you asked about although not where I first saw it: http://www.corvette7.com/forums/show...82#post6486582

Where did GM state that the black is all you get. I must have missed that.

You know I have been trying to figure that one out too. Could it be that the painted ones may have slight imperfections that would prevent them from being used as the clear coat?

There is good reason for the increased price for the visible carbon roof panel. First, the carbon fabric must be perfect in alignment, with no flaws in the weave. Any flaws would be VERY noticeable. I imagine this would be hand made for all intents and purposes, as the human eye would be much better suited to detecting such flaws than machines. Second, there is labor and material required for masking the exposed portion and the body color portion, requiring an additional run through the paint booth. Finally, the clear coat used for the exposed carbon pieces is probably the same used on the C6 Zr1 pieces, which is a special and very expensive material. There is an UV blocking ingredient that runs many thousands of dollars to the gallon used in the clear to prevent the chalking/yellowing/fading of the carbon fabric often seen on cheap aftermarket carbon parts. In all, $1995 is a very reasonable price for a very premium part!

I believe more so its the epoxy clear coat. I remember watching a video on the ZR1 and them stating the clear coat ran close to $50,000 a gallon. I think all the roofs are the same across the board, at leat from a manufacturing perspective.

Didnt think there be imperfections. Also didnt know the UV blocker was expensive. When i paint glow in dark always have to use special clear coat with out blocker.
But that is the case i can see a charge but $995 would been nicer. :-)

I understand but still waiting to see where GM corrected themselves on the black wheels. Did they send out a memo or call the dealers where people already ordered to inform the buyer. Where? I'm one of those buyers and have not seen anything or heard anything on the wheels issue.
