AMSOil did put out a release that both their 0W-40 and 5W-50 already meet the specifications and requirements of the Dexos R. They don't pay GM for the ofifcial certification, but they have had their oil tested to the standard and they meet or exceed it already.

I've been using overrated Mobil 1 since it was recommended by the Ford Motorsports guys I shared a lab with in Dearborn, MI back in the 90s.

People only know what they know...M1 has the history and most people don't look at standardized test results which prove time and time (and time) again Amsoil is a superior product, it's not just internet hype

M1 isn't bad, I still use it on occasion, but if you want "the best", it's simply not it

Idk why people still use Mobil1 test after test shows that its one of the most inferior synthetics on the market! Penzoil 0w-40 branded "SRT" is Dexos3 and is one of the best oils you can get. That & Amsoil. I use 5W-50

I ordered 10qts of the ESP Dex2 from wally and they sent 10qts Supercar Dex2.

Guys, Amsoil is great. I agree. But this is a brand new car -- use a dexos2 / dexosR oil; don't give GM any reason to deny a warranty claim.

FarmerFran is doing the right thing sticking with a dexos2 / dexosR 0W-40 oil.

BTW, Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 is, in fact, the same formulation as Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W-40 under a new name.
