I agree, the concept scored BIG points with me as well. But as "our leader" says, 'Keep the faith". I have NO doubts whatsoever that the production version will be just as beautiful. |

I didn't look at it as being wider than the current Tahoe. Could you imagine just how much roomier it would be keeping it the same width as the concept? Wow! That would be if they kept it the same width. Yes, I know they must narrow it down , but the faith is and will always be there. No doubt in my mind either!

The biggest issue for me would be,which model would look closest to the original. So far the Challenger has the Camaro beat:eek:
The 2006 Mustang looks like a retro Mustang,The 2008 Challenger looks like a retro Challenger, but unfortunately the Concept camaro has a long way to go before it even comes close to looking like a retro Camaro. And that is what i'm looking for GM to accomplish. So untill i see the finalized version of the Camaro, that will decide my decision of what i fork out my hard earned $$$for. |

I personally think that the more fair contest for the challenger is:
drumbeat__________ ________ _____ ___ __ _ 2008/2009/2010 IMPALA vs. CHALLENGER the size, wieght, and power numbers should be the same if GM does it right... |

I've said it before and I will say it again.... if I wanted a car that looks just like a '69, then i would go buy a '69 and restore it. I think that the Camaro and Mustang took similar approaches by taking cues from earlier models, but creating a design that is modern and appealing. The Challenger however looks exactly like it did in the 70's! The Challenger will appeal to all of the people who like the nostalgic feel and those that always wanted one as a child, but never had one.... once those people buy it, the sales will diminish, which is why is it going to be a limited production car.
The Camaro was never intended to be a mirror image of the '69. |

I agree with Casull, the 5th Gen is a rebirth of the 69 'Maro in the sense that it provides us with nostalgia of an American Icon. THe concept Camaro will give me a sense of retro chevy-ness(yes I said it) the I, a 30-year old could not experience. Besides, it will be more affordable to purchase this new Camaro that to acquire a 1967 or 1969 Camaro. believe with the extensive research I've put into it, the 5th Gen will definitely fulfill my pleasure principle as well as a lot of other folx here. I am really excited about this car!

I can't belive people are even comparing the looks of these cars. One of them (the challenger) is not some masterfully built hoo ha car that has a striking resemblance to the 70's one, it is A COPY of the 70's one, they had one year to design it and didn't feel like bustin there ass so that it would compare with the looks of any of these 5TH GENERATION car's. The 2008 challenger should be advertised as it really is, the 1970's challenger... And with that, the Camaro kicks the challenger's Ass, If you wan't the Camaro to look so much like the Z28, why don't you just go out and buy one now?? I am positive that GM is not looking for a super retro car when it comes to the 2008 camaro, stop waiting for GM to change it cuz it aint gonna happen bro... Amen

I agree with skid though. If I wanted a 1970 challenger then Id buy one. and really nothing beats the orininal. I dont even think that challenger should be called retro, the 05 mustang was retro. the challenger is a remake, or a do over
