The owner wanted to keep his lights clean and clear as his previous vehicle's lights got heavily pitted and foggy as a result. He did not want to go down that road again! Some recent questions that have come in and seemed good to share here too:

Q. Do you recommend using this protection on new cars? Is it necessary to do it right away or should you wait a couple years before installing this to the headlights?

A. The newer the headlight the greater the benefit there is to applying our Headlight Armor. From the day you start driving the lights are subjected to micro abrasions and impact damage from sand and road debris. This pitting removed the factory hard UV coating on the headlight and over time this is what causes most of the clouding issues you see in older vehicles.
The sooner you prevent further lens degradation the better off you are. If you have an older car with some pitting already applying the Headlight Armor with stop further erosion and help to keep your lenses clear.

Q. After installing your headlight protection can I still wash my can either by hand or at an automated car wash.

A. Yes you can wash your car as you would normally wash it. We just recommend holding off for a few days post install before washing.

Q. Will this prevent the yellowing/oxidation from happening on my car?

A. The short answer is yes in can help prevent the light from fogging and yellowing.

The long answer: The main reason your headlight will fog up is due to the factory UV coating being worn away by sand and other debris over time. All headlights come with a hard protective UV coating from the factory. The problem starts when you drive your vehicle without a lighting protection film applied to the lights. Over time sand and road debris chip the hard coating the headlights came with and the sun starts to break down the polycarbonate. This process happens slowly, little by little. So slow you don’t notice it until it is too late.

If you then sand down and polish the lamp and return the clarity you must protect the lamp from both exposure to the atmosphere and UV otherwise you will have the fogginess return. While you could use some sort of polymer sealant they typically do not last that long and of course will do nothing again further pitting – and pitting was the root cause of the cloudy / foggy lens.
Your best course of action is to protect the lens with our lighting protection kits!
