Z51 or Magnetic Ride Control?

Hey guys, been lurking around for a while to get more info on the C7, and it's confirmed that I'll buy one later this year after I get married (yes, she's cool with it...which will help me say "yes." Hmm...maybe I should buy it before I say yes). Anyhow I'm all set on colors and options, except for Z51 and MRC. Quick background: While this car is not going to be my DD, I still will drive it about 12k per year since I drive at least 25k overall. I won't really be tracking it (might go out once or twice). With that said, I love the Z51 wheels and spoiler, and was set on getting it with no MRC. But the more I read up on the feel/ride of the Z51, the more it seems that it may not be as suitable for DD (or 100 a day for work a few times a week). On the flip side, I've read some info where people suggest MRC is a must. So taking all this into consideration...

Should I get a Z51/no MRC or non-Z51/MRC for what I'll use the car for?

I have the same system in my ZL1. It is great. You might decide to track the car in the future and wish you had it. It gives a great soft ride in touring mode and really tightens down in track mode. There is a reason why the top Ferrari's use the same system on their mega dollar cars.

MRC is only available on Z51 cars unfortunately. Maybe GM will change this restriction at some point. I personally love the MRC; notice the benefits all the time in daily driving.

Oh wow, obviously I haven't done enough research. Thanks for clarifying that. I also did not think MRC would make that much of a difference in D;, thought it just helped on the track. It looks like Z51 with MRC is the best choice.

It's certainly an expensive option on top of the Z51. But for me the transition in the ride between Sport and Tour is great. I find myself driving around in Tour most of the time. It's amazingly comfortable. The Sport is obviously firmer and the steering/throttle more responsive, but not harsh. It's just a flick of the dial to change the character of the car. Best of both worlds for whatever your mood is.

I also love the NPP exhaust. I leave the valves open all the time in the settings. Intoxicating sound. Another expensive but must have option IMO.

When I ordered mine my top add ones were Z51, MRC, NPP, 7 speed. haven't looked back sense!!

I have driven both the Z51 with and without Mag ride. I came away with the following from my brief 30 minute back to back drive:

Z51 Without Mag: traditional stiffer ride you expect in a stereotypical "sportscar" all the time.

Z51 With Mag: noticeably softer in Touring mode. Similarly stiff like without Mag in Sport mode but with better damping (in the short section of corners I took).

More importantly buy it before you put the ring on her finger. That conversation where she was "cool" with it never really happened in her mind. We all know that. Either option you choose will be great. I went Z51 without MRC and love the ride in my C7.

Get both, its worth it.

We purchased both of our shop development cars with both. The Auto car we drove 500 miles back from Cali and was very comfortable, The manual car we drove from BG, rode like a Cadillac. Get both, you wont regret it.

If you're weighing options, remember adding MRC down the road won't be(very expensive if possible) an option as apposed to something like exhaust.
