This is a great thing for the 1/4 mile folks. The car's PTM systems (ECU, TCU, ediff, etc.) can talk to each other about traction conditions then coordinate torque management a hell of a lot faster than my left foot can get off the clutch cleanly. Plus shift in under 150 ms. My pathetic granny shifting isn't even in the same league

I read that the automatic's extra weight gives the rear tires more traction.

Based on these tests don't see a 3.8 0-60' time without sticky tires and mine shaft air.

Corvette Racing and Formula 1 cars use auto paddle shift its instantaneous but it is not Macho. Most gear heads are programmed to believe "clutch n shift" is fastest. It's not! Even Chief Eng Jeuchter hints that the fastest times r auto paddle but GM believe their quickest inroad to the young market and Kick European butt is to focus on 7 speed manual with the sexy auto blip Rev Matching which is super cool. But still not fastest! Granny shift ain't Macho! At least not yet!
