Arizona State Inspections

I am currently planning a move to Tempe Arizona. My 12 Camaro SS has the good ole go fast goodies....SCT Tune from Jannety, Long-tube headers (NO CATS), Flowmasters, and cold air kit.

Here in Texas life is golden with this set-up. But could I expect problems in Arizona when I move this Summer? Or will I be calling someone up for a ADD some CATS and detune her?

Any insight or pointers is appreciated. Thanks folks.

And yes I already tried a

You will be fine. AZ doesn't do emissions testing on vehicles that new.

I've lived in AZ for of 25 years, and the only thing they care about is whether or not the car will pass the smog test, period.

The smog test consists of hooking the car up to the computer via the ODBII port. As long as all sensors are ready you pass. If not then you have to fix it. They do no real inspections unless it fails.

Here is their link: http://www.azdot.gov/mvd/VehicleServ...tion/emissions

Does that Help?

They didn't on one of my trucks that I brought from Canada when I moved back to AZ. All I did was take it in, they did a quick inspection, no emissions, and handed me an AZ plate.

Either way, if they do he will be fine with his mods.

Thank you everyone for the prompt replies. So the emissions aren't as aggressively monitored as my San Diego days were. Good to know. I was just getting spoiled with frying tires, I'd hate to think I'd have to strip her pride from her with a detune.

I agree that you shouldn't have an issue with your emissions tests. I built one of the emissions testing facilities that you'd have to go to, they are all ran by the same organization and have the same testing protocols. The type of test that they put your car through depends on the year it was made. For newer cars, like yours the response from GearHeadPeter is correct, they will only test your ODBII port and if that doesn't pass, then you may be subject to the tail pipe testing. I wouldn't change anything until you go and get the test done.

Let the car run for awhile before going through the inspection (hint told to me by one of the inspectors). You will be required to do it bringing the car in from out of state. Also go in the beginning of the month so your not waiting in a very long line!!
