birdy223, how about some helpful hints when trying to get the lowest APR? What do you suggest we do? I bank w/ USAA who offered 6.0 APR on my new veh loan. The dealer said USAA couldn't touch their 4.4 APR. USAA asked if that was the lowest they would go. Dealer said yes. USAA agreed to match it. Then, dealer offered to go lower, but USAA held theirs at 4.4. You have any tips that could get us into a lower APR???

The number one way is good credit, if you have good credit, then you can shop around and get the best rate.
Considering that auto loan rates are tied to prime which currently is 8.25% and we don't know what prime rate is going to be 2 years from now. Currently the nationwide average is 7.50% for a 60 month loan with good credit. You can pick up a few discounts from your local bank for auto draft and having a checking account. Our current rate at the bank I work at is 8.24% with .50% discounts for auto pay/checking account which drops it down to 7.74% Ours is higher compared to others. One of the lowest rates is Capital One, they are at 6.69% for a 60-72 month loan Granted, some dealers have special rates from the factory, but those are for the slow selling models so don't expect a 1.9% on a Camaro. If we can get a 6.0% rate 2 years from now when interest rates have been on a steady climb, we would be doing good at 6.00% $30,000 for 60 months @ 6.00% is $579.98 a month $30,000 for 72 months @ 6.00% is $497.19 a month |

i think the camaro is going ot be priced about the same as the gto is now( for the v8). v6 probably around 19-25,000. i remember a couple of months ago someone form gm said that the camaro would be around the same price range as when they stopped making it in 02. and to get an ss in 02 was about 32-33,000. that seems like a reasonable price for the car

that pisses me off when people are like that and say "bla bla bla this car is goign to be precisely 45-50k" bull$hit. it will never ever get to be more than a vette. you can buy a base model vette at 42,000 brand new. the camaro will never top that fully loaded unless it has a 427 in it maybe. that guy needs to hang himself especially since he was trying ot price a car that wasnt even decided on being made yet.............. and the big thing is that you dont even know what the car looks(exactly) like or what kind of options its going to have.

I agree that I see a loaded V8 Camaro around $32K But if they produce a limited number of a 500 hp Camaro's, it will be at least $42K to match the Shelby Mustang (in two years expect at least a few thousand more than that), and although a very very very small number of people may get one at MSRP you know most dealers will gouge the heck out of it.

we got to also remember interest rates will probably change between now and the time this car comes out.
oh and the one thing i don't like about usaa is the fact they don't have an actual branch. no way to deposit money from a check with out mailing it to them. sucks. |

Does GM have a certain pattern regarding releasing pricing on cars it just approved for production? Or is it random from car to car? Trying to get a sense of when we might see actual pricing information (probably pretty far off)?

yeah the price does kinda change depending on the package the car has. they already said it was going to be affordable for a younger gen. which means probably the same as the gto maybe a little more for a car with more options on it but it just depends on what kind of options the car you want has
