ZL1 Scrooged
After being told over a month ago that I had secured the 1st ZL1 allocation from their Florida dealership (AutoNation affiliate), I get a call from the sales guy apologizing to me because some AutoNation corporate peckerhead swiped the 1st allocation spot for a friend (supposedly).
Both the salesman and general manager of the dealership are new and didnt even know it happened until GM opened up the 1st allocation for order early this week. At first I was OK with waiting to possibly get a ZL1 in the next couple of months when the next allocation opened up, but today I called the sales guy back and told him to cancel my order. I think it is time for me to take a step back and consider all of my options. Due to my respect for many of you at this site I decided to post this up just to say it has been fun and enjoyable discussing ZL1 topics over the past year. Not saying that I wont end up with a ZL1 eventually, but for now I intend to look around a bit. First thing that caught my eye was this beauty which only has 4K miles on it and is $20K less than I was going to spend on the ZL1 with the planned mods I was having done. 600 beastly HP . . . What you think? |

Nothing wrong with a Viper.
They're pretty sexy beasts, although I find the styling a bit dated for my tastes.

Vipers are nice, but not refined. It all depends on what you want out of the car. If you want a bad@ss ride with a ton of power, go with the Viper. If you want an all around driver and track car, go for the ZL1.

BiggFoot. Don't let one dealership experience define your dream. Or "redefine" your dream. Get out those dream shoes and dream fingers and start making calls. My guess is that with a little more hard work, and YES, it is hard, you will FIND an allocation. There are some opening up from those who can't afford it, or those who "lost" their color choice and won't be buying. It's too early for you to QUIT. That's all I'm suggesting. I want to see you get what you wanted to start with. It may take three days of calling around. Networking, etc.... but don't give up because ONE dealer messed you up. So, drop down and give me 10. 10 phone calls a day for 10 days. Until you do that, I won't give up on you getting a ZL1! OK?

Oh what I would do to be in your shoes....580hp ZL1 or 600hp Viper that will both be modified...If it was up to me, and I wanted a car that I will drive daily and it was my only car, ZL1. If it was my 2nd or 3rd car, I'd get the Viper without giving it a second thought. I've driven a 2009 ACR and it was incredible. You get get all the go fast ACR aerodynamic parts for that thing and destroy everyone at any HPDE you go to. Good luck either way. Post pics of either when you get it.
