Official. Opel/Vauxhall are no longer a GM subsidiary.
So how much proprietary info goes with the sale? I know that was a big concern when GM bailed on Saab.

I think increased aluminum at least. Would be a bit hypocritical to go with an aluminum bed at this point but i've seen stranger things.

Well, GM does have a tendency to be a bit more pragmatic when it comes to their engineering. Ford likes to do big, bold, attention grabbing things in order to help market their product -even if it isn't the best way to do things, from an ownership standpoint. Just the impression that I've got of the two over the last decade or so.

So I don't see GM going ALL aluminum. There isn't really much in the way of a practical or marketing benefit. Plus, GM seems to absolutely love doing mixed materials -more so than any other automaker I can think of.

In part, Ford's switch to aluminum was necessary considering how overweight the previous gen F-150 was compared to Silverado/Sierra.

I'm still thinking we'll see a ton of high strength steel in the T1XX bed. The cab might go full aluminum, but I don't think even GM is dumb enough to go full aluminum in the bed considering the mockery they made of the F-150's.

Wow, that will be cool for people in Great Brittan and Australia.

Also lets us know there will be a Gen 7.

How far along do new car concepts or plans need to be in order for these approvals to happen?

About the only thing required to decide that you're going to do a RHD is to know that you're doing a car at all.

That might even be the best time, because as you get later in the development process, you'll have more things to re-do & you have fewer optimal solutions available.

Gotcha, figured it couldn't have been too far along in the process.
