Clicking / Tapping sound from Engine??

Ok.. I read about the posted about the DI Fump being loud...

My question is... I hear a tapping/ clicking sound dominantly on
passenger side valve cover area towards the front... very noticeable
at idle.

could someone please tell me if your corvettes have the
same sound in that specific area?

thanks
paul

Post a video. I can't hear the HPFP on mine, but the supercharger is probably drowning it out. I think the pump is on the rear of the driver's side (close to the firewall).

I will take video... Thanks for response. Anyone else out there? ..
More dominantly on passenger side. I thought the secondary fuel pump
Was mounted in middle of the intake between heads. But sound is coming from passenger side... I don't think it's a lifter, seems more mechanical..

Thanks

I for one don't have any out of the ordinary ticking sounds. The fuel pump can seem noisy to some people but is normal. I usually don't hear it when in the car, but can when the windows are down and the radio is off, such as in a drive-thru. Due to tricks of acoustics, it sometimes seems to come from the passenger side.

I suggest if you are concerned, visit your dealer. If they tell you all is normal, check with a different dealer for a second opinion. If they too say all is good, your car is probably fine, especially if there are no other symptoms of problems. You might also pick up an automotive stethescope and see if you can narrow down the location of the ticking. This can sometimes help dealer techs track more obscure problems down.

And just FYI, lifters are one of the few fully mechanical parts in an engine. I don't know how much more mechanical something could be.

The part of the pump that connects to the fuel rails is between the heads. However, it is driven by the cam shaft, and I think it has a rod that is in the driver's side head and runs all the way down to the cam shaft.

Ok... I wasn't going crazy.. I found the tapping noise. I got in my car to take it for ride and I noticed it running rough and all lights came on... I opened the hood and found 2 wires hanging off the coil. Plugged them back in and everything g is good.. It must of been hanging off just enough and arching out causing the tapping noise...
