a single 10" can be heard for two blocks.

You can get a seperate box from stealthbox for both sides ea holding one 12.
On a seperate note based of the one 10 comment Im with you I used to go 2x 12" and this time I figured hell save some trunk space mount one quality speaker (10" JL W7" is more than enough to make my ears ring.

yes, you can mount 2 12's in the side-boxes... you will need to find a 12" sub that likes a small-ish enclosure (Phoenix Gold RSDC or a Dayton HO for example) since the enclosures wont be very big, and your going to need to make sure you have a sub that can fit the depth (dont forget to give around 3/4" behind the sub for cooling). I dont know what enclosure your looking at (******** makes a real nice enclosure thats fairly inexpensive) or I might be able to recommend a sub that will fit. Obviously if you go with a custom enclosure (fiberglass) you can make the enclosure size whatever you want and fit virtually any sub you want.

I just installed the ******** large box for one 12" on the d-side with 1500w amp. Hits hard enough to blur vision when up... right there with the two 10w6 and 1000/1 I had in my last car and my trunk is perfectly usable.

And bandpass in the same statement as perfect sound and bass? Do you know how hard it is to design a bandpass enclosure that isn't a one note street beater wonder? Then you have to back it up with proper mid bass, mid range and tweeter crossover and staging! And do all this in car, which is the absolute worst medium for anything perfect in SQ. Unless you have experience designing and building enclosures, stay away from bandpass, unless all you want is typical street beater thump. It won't be any where near truly perfect sound and bass, which is most likely never going to be achieved in a car anyway.

thanks for your input... althought im not a builder I use a amazing shop to build my systems... Sound Station in SINY... anyway... I have a bandbass box with 2 10s, firing from a sealed box into another box with a huge ports (5inx8in) firing thought where the 6x9 were. the key to this set up is the port size, in most cases the ports arent big enough to handle the air movement of the sub. so yes in that case in would be a "typical street beater" ..... president of ARC audio and other ARC audio reps have heard my car and they are plenty satified with the amount of bass and sound from their 10's..... push 300watt to each sub! any they can handle an play any genre of music... w/out the 6x9s I installed 6in separates for midbass etc in the rear panels. Arc shipped the car out to cali to have it on display. |
