LTs installed but exhaust too loud
Just installed a set of Speed Engineering LTs. Everything bolted up great and had a few issues with the steering knuckle but got it fixed finally. I have a pretty much straight pipes and no cats. My first question does not having Cats, or mufflers hurt the car? And does anyone know of a cheap method to quiet the car down because its ridiculously loud obviously.

I have long tubes and high flow cats with mufflers deleted. Its pretty loud but not horrible. I think the cats soften the noise a little bit.
Its all relative though. I like it loud. Some people don't. |

Might have to get some high flow cats installed? Anyone know of a good place to get some at a good price?

Your going to be loud. LT+mufflerless exhaust is going to create a lot noise. Cats may reduce somewhat but its the mufflers that reduce most of the noise. The only way to help with the noise is to add mufflers or purchase another exhaust system with mufflers. Your current setup will not hurt your vehicle but if you did not tune for the LT's you could start getting thrown O2 sensor codes which might cause your ECM to go into "limp mode".

Did the LTs with no cats trigger a check engine light? If so, you need a tune. Pretty easy to get cheap high flow cats directly from speed engineering or even throw some mufflers or a resonated x pipe on to quiet it back down.

Not trying to jack the thread - but Ive wondered how loud my setup will be next month with LT headers, HF cats, and SW retro catback. How would someone go about adding mufflers to an already aftermarket catback?

Cheap method? Add mufflers.
You're not going to quiet down a straight piped V8 with high flow cats; you need mufflers of some sort. |

Cheap way to quiet it down, install the factory cat back on the car again. That will quiet it down.

You need some good mufflers & some electric cutouts, make it loud when you want. I had that setup before, sounded great but to loud all the time.
