SC or TT????
If you are only wanting 600-650 rwhp, which would you choose for a mean street machine?

Each system has pros and cons. TT makes more efficient power at higher ranges but cost more. SC can make those goals but may require forging internals and additional upgrades. Most street focused camaros tend to go the SC route.

Turbo will ALWAYS make more power per psi of boost. It's a matter of efficiency of a turbo vs any s/c. Plus, since a turbo has boost set by a wastegate, it doesn't matter the d/a or elevation. A turbo once set for a predetermined boost level, will always make that airmass as long as the turbo is able to physically spin fast enough. A s/c will have to be pullied down to make up for elevation changes. Plus, there's always that dreaded belt slip and throwing a belt. So for me, a turbo would be my version of FI.

If you want to go street brawling... and have instant WOW factor when you hit the throttle and want your friends to say OHH(*^#(^*$ then go Supercharged... and pray you can get traction, and it will be the MOST Fun.
The turbos are more efficient for sure, and VERY fun still, but in a very different way. Cost is similar at similar power levels until you get way up there. I went PD blower based stoplight to stoplight, Instant Kill Torque, for when some turd comes up on me in their Porsche or M3 etc.... I am targeting in the 600s rwhp...and I would probably be faster on the street at under 550.... Hoping these MT's do the trick.

Brake boosting a turbo car would also give you that instant torque also from a roll. For the track a trans break or a 2-step would do the trick

I went with agp twin turbos which you know from your slp supercharger thread, but both system can be made into killer street machines, but for both to really perform you need good complimentary and thought out components, i.e suspension, a rear end that will handle the abuse ect., to many people just slap on fi and think I'm going be super fast and go to the track and are disappointed, all because they didn't build a solid foundation to connect that power to the ground

I agree on the turbo's being the most efficient and in most cases they are probably the better of the two, but for a street machine that has a reasonable power goal I'd go with the supercharger

All forced induction is fun!! But they each have their pros and cons...enough that not one of them is better than the other in and of itself. Just some of them are better for certain people, builds, price ranges, or goals. Within the limits of a stock block and with no real super-build planned, you can't really go wrong either way. If you just want a fun DD 600 hp then any of these systems can get you there depending on other mods. The only thing I don't like about turbos is the cost and intricacy of the systems. PD blowers are very inexpensive, they're easy to install, and very easy to tune. Centri blowers seem to cost slightly more than the PDs (I like the Procharger D1SC) but also are easily installed, tuned, and maintained. Turbos no doubt are the coolest...altho nobody ever popped a hood to see a blower and said "wow that is boring"...lol!! So I would say try to find the best deal and go from there. Also try to decide which one you prefer.
And word of advice, don't get number crazy. Everyone seems to want X amount of HP. But I tell you, at 550 to the wheels you are right on the same level as a 13-14 GT500 and the 17 ZL1s. And 550 to the wheels is a LOT of power and makes for a very fast car. With enough supporting suspension mods you could see 10s at that level. Sure 600 and 650 sounds more awesome. But once you feel 550 you'll be smiling ear to ear. And most bolt-on blowers will get you to 550 easily. Good luck. |

Do a centri supercharger. Just because it's a lot cheaper than other forms of forced induction and is just as efficient.

Is a centri on top or in front on the side?

Centri blowers are on the front of the engine. They are those round turbo-looking blowers. PDs mount on top of the engine...like on the ZL1, GT500, and Hellcat.

Ok. Thanks! The PD blowers are actually way cheaper than the centri then

If you can honestly say you only want 600hp and wont ever want more, just go with your choice of pd sc. I'm not sure which mods you already have, but that can play a role in your decision too.
