P90X questions
I didn't want to hi-jack the other thread, so:
I scanned over the 1st workout (online) and saw that there were some questionable workouts that they want people to do. Mainly the pull-up exercises. Are there any other exercises on the other 11 videos that you can't do at home? What can you do instead of pull-ups? What do you do instead of them? How often do you watch the videos? Are you supposed to do certain videos for a month and then switch for the next month? Last edited by Epitaph; 03-28-2010 at 04:17 AM. |

Workout video that a lot of people are doing. You'll see a lot of results in 3 months if you stick to doing the workouts on it.

I did P90X for a month and then my life got busy again and I kinda...stopped lol but its a great workout plan. Basically you have a different video each day that incorporates something different such as yoga, muscle training or cardio. It's designed to be used at home with little resources. Instead of pull ups there are resistance band alternatives. In the video everything is pretty well shown and explained. Theres always someone in the videos thats doing the resistance band alternative workouts. Hope that helps! and I do plan on going back and doing the whole 90 days sometime...lol

You can substitute the bands using a door attachment that works like a pull-up (not 100% but OK).

Just buy one of the over the door pull up bars they are fairly cheap and work very well. I have seen a 250LB guy do 25 pulls ups on one and it held up. They sell them at academy target bed bath and beyond. But they also show you on the videos how to do the same movements with a resistance band. You watch a different video everyday and there is a book that comes with the program that tells you which video to watch, also they have the same list on their website. I just started doing it yesterday, I'm not going to lie it is hard but it is alot of fun. And you will feel great after the workouts.

you can do all of the exercises at home. Just about every exercise they show you various ways to do it, using weights or bands and modified if you can't keep up with the typical move (ie, push-ups from you knees). A pull-up bar is ideal but as mentioned you can use the bands with the knotted attachment that goes into the seam around your door. If you use bands for the pull-ups I'd recommend one of the higher weight bands (20-25lbs) and lean over so the bands are parallel to your spine.
Last year I did 8 weeks then got too busy and had to take a break. I started again in January and just have a few weeks left. If you keep up with it, eat decent (I don't follow the nutrition plan but I eat decent) and even on days when you don't have a full hour to devote to it, try to do something in place so you keep your motivation. I recently started running a few miles 2-3 times a week in place of some of the cardio days. Plyo-x will suck the first few times you do it but once Plyo makes Kempo or Cardio-x seem like a walk in the park, you are making progress. Good luck and keep going at it hard and you will see results.
