Question All-Wheel Drive Camaro... Thoughts?

During last week's snow storm here in Iowa, my 2019 1LT performed pretty good considering it has its stock 20" Goodyear All Season tires.

However, it didn't perform as well as my old 2013 1LS that had its stock 18" BF Goodrich All Season tires several years ago during my trip to Indiana in a blizzard.

I traded off my 2019 1LT for a 2020 Charger GT with All-Wheel drive. I pick it up this coming Tuesday and from what I've read about this car in numerous reviews, it's a beast in the snow.

My wife and I have pondered why GM hasn't brought all-wheel drive to its Chevy line-up of cars? The Corvette, Impala, and Malibu could definitely benefit from it.

I'd love to see an all-wheel drive Camaro, but I can understand they're killing the Camaro(a dog gone shame, but you have to admit the design team needs some fresh blood and GM needs better/more colors). I'd trade in the Charger if GM brought out an all-wheel drive Camaro.

If Porsche, Lamborghini, etc can do it, why won't GM?

What are your thoughts?

I used to suggest it all the time but no takers.

Alpha is set up for AWD and until Dodge added it for the V6 it would have been a differentiator, if nothing else adding it to the L4 and V6 models to increase appeal.

Even the new CT4 and 5 Vs have AWD.

Not sure the AWD system can handle LT1 torque.

I'd buy it in a Turbo 4 or V6.

AWD is nice, but it adds weight in the wrong spot for the track-focused Camaros. On the other hand AWD launches would be nice.

Right tires fixes all traction problems.

The way I look at it is like this...AWD is typically around a $2500 option give or take. I personally prefer having a RWD car, and just buying a dedicated winter tire and wheel setup. Not only will it do better in the snow, but it will be far cheaper than the AWD option. I have a 2018 1LT V6 myself that I drive all year round. I'll be curious how you like the Charger over your Camaro

I've owned a Charger before. They're a good car in my opinion. They're just a bit bigger than the Camaro and heavier. They ride nice and even the V6 has plenty of get up'n go.

Plus, I still have my Krypton Green 2017 2SS to play with during summer months.

Gotcha. I have 700 hp 2000 SS as my weekend/summer toy as well. I actually considered a V6 Charger or Challenger over my V6 Camaro as my daily, and had a 2016 Mustang prior to that. I do like throttle response on the Charger and Challenger. Makes the car seems much quicker than it actually is

There are enough AWD options on the market. I bought my Camaro for the RWD and M6. If I want a snow vehicle there are plenty of options and for me better ones.

Buy the clone lookalike Blazer if you want AWD. A Camaro with AWD would be too heavy.

I'm not sure the marketing people at GM even know they produce a Camaro, so why would they bother?

If I was going that route, I would like to have a little more ground/ snow clearance that than a camaro would offer in an AWD set up. At the times I would need a AWD, the snow would be pretty deep. I am thinking pickup or SUV.

Add two small electric motors to the front wheels and implement drive logic to only use them when necessary, that is, during launch and heavy 1st/2nd gear acceleration, or maybe traction loss under low temperature/high humidity. It does add weight, but I'd be willing to give such a contraption a try.
