No way that this dog hunts at $65K plus base price. That would be a mistake. The Z/28 struggled at a high price point. They sold a fair number of 5th gen ZL1's and many of those customers would be prime customers for a 6th gen Zxx. The price will be key. At $65K or higher it would be a tough call for me. It would be very hard to change from my current ZL1 for that much of a base price increase.

Just my opinion, but I also think the ZL1 will start in the low 60s.
But even if it was higher than that, I still believe it would sell better than the Z/28 for a variety of reasons. More HP, not stripped, and not completely focused on track use. A next gen ZL1 would again ride on MRC shocks, and much like the GT350R, would be a friendlier cruiser than the Z/28, but also still be a fun weekend track car.

I hope I'm wrong and you guys are right.
I also hope they change up the visual appearance a bit more this time. The last ZL1 looked perfect, but that's because I think the Gen 5 lent itself to being rather butch. The Gen 6 looks a bit too svelte in my eyes (at least for a 600 hp+ bruiser), so I hope they do a few visual tricks like widen the body a bit (give it some subtle fender flaring in the rear). |

Just under but within $1000 of the $59k hellcat msrp. Options being auto, PDR (could be standard too), CCB and sunroof to bring up the price to just under the z06 base.

^ This is exactly my bed. Base base will be at or near +-2/3 grand @ 60k. Right now coupe is $56,500 that is WITHOUT the $2,250 already chevy discount. So you can except a 4-5 grand increase AT LEAST. Also, given without any dealership BS like ADM.

Depends on if it has ceramic brakes or not. If it does, I say mid 70's, if not I say mid 60's.
Also depends on if they are making a ZL1 and a Z28, or if they are only making one. ...heck, also depends on the price point of the 1LE too. |

I sure have given a lot of thought to getting a hellcat, a real American icon with the big HP.....but, I've found I just enjoy a fast, smaller, nimbler vehicle that is so much more fun to drive....like my 370Z NISMO (fab car) or my ZL1 (Lingenfelter Stage 1, 595 RWHP)...sooo I am thinking about a 6th gen 1 SS with a Lingenfelter LT1 650 HP upgrade (like they do for the vettes.....just wondering if the rear end and trans will hold the upgraded power..I can get a Hellcat for 65K plus TTL, a 1SS 1LE should be in the 42K range plus 10K for Lingenfelter 650 package..for a total of around 52 verse 65 for the Hellcat....whats everyone think?

Personally, I'm done with adding big mods like S/C, TT and etc. Too many problems to deal with. I either wait for ZL1 or I get a Hellcat. My two choices. |

Biggest issue with the Hellcat, is it's a tank. if you wanna track the car, that is 100% not the car to buy. Even with the upgrades, they aren't the best at handling and braking to say the least. Not to mention how that weight (4400 pounds or so) will impact the brakes after lapping. No matter what you do to a car of that weight and size, it will never be a capable, legit track car. Unless your track is just made up of long, long straits. An new SS handles and brakes better off the showroom floor then a Hellcat, and has like 600-700 pounds less bulk to get around that track. With a few additional mods it would run laps around a Hellcat, as it wouldn't need the power of the Hellcat to run quicker laps...tune, cam, headers, intake, gears, coilovers, tires and you would have quite the car. Now if an 1LE comes out, we can take that to another level... |

I think the hellcat might be cheaper but time will tell. I paid 59.5k for my 15 so with the price increase that would be like 61k or so.
it is not a track car but it is not as bad as people make it out. you could definitely do a standard track day in this car and have a blast. you would even hurt some feelings as on the straits the people who don't push the corners would have to waive you around. 99% of people don't do track days at all let alone run in a class that allows any form of competition. The car will not be as sorted out though as the next gen camaro with mag ride. it is not quite a sorted out as my Zl1 was but it is faster than my zl1 was with 585whp. the interior is light years better and the power is everywhere. I mean it gets a bad wrap in some ways as it does lap about the same time as the outgoing 1le lets say. which for the money sucks but if you have ever driven a 1le you know that is laps well.

The hellcat is pretty compelling. I like it. It's like driving your middle finger.
